Nghe An: Discovered using fake university degrees to apply for tour guide licenses

(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An Department of Tourism has just discovered a case of document fraud, submitting a fake university degree to apply for a tour guide license.

The above case is Mr. Dao Van Ngoc, born on September 10, 1985. Mr. Dao Van Ngoc submitted an application for a tour guide card at the Department's one-stop office; according to the procedure, the Department proceeded to verify the application to ensure it met the conditions for the card.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh An - Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism said that on November 2, 2017, the Department of Tourism sent Official Dispatch No. 1236/SDL-QLLH regarding the verification of diplomas and certificates to Vinh University, requesting the school to verify the graduation certificate of Mr. Dao Van Ngoc attached in the file, on the certificate stated that it was issued by Vinh University.

On November 9, Vinh University sent a reply, stating: Through checking the archived records as well as the original books of diplomas and certificates, Vinh University did not train nor grant a part-time university degree to Mr. Dao Van Ngoc. The signature of Dr. Tran Tu Khanh and the seal of Vinh University on Mr. Dao Van Ngoc's diploma are forged.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh An added that the Department of Tourism has implemented a very strict document appraisal process, all degrees and certificates are sent by the Department to the agencies and units that issued the degrees and certificates for verification. This process aims to ensure the seriousness, fairness and quality of the tour guide team operating in the province.
