Nghe An: Ready for summer-autumn production

In Vinh Thanh commune (Yen Thanh), farmers are actively preparing the land to plant the summer-autumn rice seedlings. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam in Vinh Thanh said: My family has now finished harvesting 5 sao of rice, and a week before, we started planting the seedlings. In addition to using high-quality seeds, we must prepare the land and plant the seedlings according to the correct technical process; such as planting the seedlings in a place that is sheltered from the wind, high and dry, and convenient for irrigation.

This year, Vinh Thanh commune planted over 455 hectares, currently the commune has brought in more than 30 tons of seeds for people to produce in time. Up to this point, people have harvested about 80% of the rice area; as soon as they harvest, people work the land to start the summer-autumn crop in time.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duong - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Yen Thanh district added: In this summer-autumn crop, Yen Thanh planted over 12,500 hectares of pure rice and hybrid rice. To manage pests and diseases well, the district recommends that localities only structure 1-2 varieties with the same growing period in a field.

The District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development also recommends that before planting rice seedlings, people need to buy seeds from a clear address and must treat the seeds; this is an important measure to destroy pathogens on the seeds right from the start, so sow 1 kg of rice seeds/8-10m²Seedling land. The district strives to sow all types of seeds by May 30.

Along with the seedling establishment, localities are actively harvesting spring rice with the motto of harvesting and preparing the land for summer-autumn planting. The district has directed the agricultural service sector to fully prepare agricultural materials. Localities are dredging canals for irrigation, repairing banks, field banks, dams, and pumping stations to ensure irrigation water for the summer-autumn crop.

Along with other localities in the province, Dien Chau district has also prepared quite well for the summer-autumn crop. According to the plan, the district will plant 9,250 hectares of rice, of which over 90% will be high-quality pure rice. Facilities have provided people with 37,000 tons of seeds and 462,000 tons of various fertilizers.

TThe District Plant Protection Department provided the communes with nearly 35,000 packages of seed treatment chemicals and over 20,000 packages of chemicals to be injected into seedlings. The Irrigation Enterprise coordinated with the communes to dredge and clear canals to ensure irrigation water was available for production.

This summer-autumn crop, Nghe An planted over 97,000 hectares of rice, reducing the number of hectares converted to other crops by over 2,000 hectares. Currently, facilities have provided farmers with over 4,500 tons of seeds and over 70,000 tons of various fertilizers.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development directed localities and units to continue to effectively prevent drought; strictly manage water resources to prevent leakage and loss; and increase the use of advanced irrigation methods.

The Department also directed localities to organize dredging of canal systems, water intake gates, irrigation pumping stations, clear water flows, install water intake equipment for proactive operation, and ensure adequate conditions for clear water flow from the source to the fields./.
