Nghe An is ready to respond to heavy rain, flash floods, landslides
(Baonghean.vn) - On September 11, the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Nghe An province issued Official Dispatch No. 145 on proactively responding to heavy rain, flash floods, and landslides.
According to information from the North Central Hydrometeorological Station, due to the impact of storm No. 5, from September 12 to 14, in the provinces of the North Central region, there will be moderate to heavy rain, some places will have very heavy rain with rainfall in the North of the region generally 50-100mm/period, some places over 100mm/period; in the South of the region, it is generally 100-200mm/period, some places over 200mm/period; there is a high risk of flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas, localized flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas.
To proactively respond and minimize damage caused by heavy rain, flash floods, landslides as well as unusual situations, the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Nghe An province requests the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of districts, cities, towns, Chairmen of the Board of Members, Chairmen of companies, Directors of irrigation and hydropower companies in the province to implement some important contents:
Closely monitor the situationstorm no. 5, heavy rain to promptly and regularly notify and guide authorities at all levels and people to proactively prevent floods, flash floods, and landslides.

Prepare plans to proactively respond to situations; arrange forces, supplies, and means on site to implement measures to ensure people's safety, especially the evacuation of residents in high-risk areas. Strictly comply with regulations on Covid-19 prevention and control.
At the same time, prepare plans to deploy forces to control and guide traffic, especially through culverts, spillways, deeply flooded areas, and fast-flowing water; proactively arrange forces, materials, and means to overcome incidents, ensuring smooth traffic on main traffic routes when heavy rain occurs.

Prepare plans to operate drainage works when heavy rain occurs, prevent flooding in urban areas and low-lying areas to ensure minimal damage when heavy rain occurs.
In addition, direct inspection, review, and prepare plans to ensuresafety of reservoirsand downstream, especially small hydroelectric reservoirs and important irrigation lakes; arrange permanent forces to operate and regulate and be ready to handle possible situations.
