Nghe An: Industrial production and export turnover increase

On the afternoon of January 4, the Department of Industry and Trade held a conference to summarize the work of 2017 and deploy tasks for 2018. Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended and gave a speech.

In 2017, of the 27/27 socio-economic targets of the province achieved and exceeded, the Industry and Trade sector had 2 targets achieved and exceeded: Industrial production value and export turnover of goods. Industrial production value reached 48,368 billion VND, exceeding 8.8% of the plan, increasing 20.06% compared to 2016, the highest increase in the last 3 years. Many major industrial products achieved and exceeded the set targets: Hoa Sen steel, steel, cement, electricity production, laminated boards and MDF, NPK fertilizer, etc.

Export activities continued to flourish, with the export turnover of goods reaching 682 million USD, an increase of 19.87% compared to 2016, the highest increase in the past 3 years. Export items were diverse (over 50 items), some items with large export turnover such as fresh fruits, textiles, wood chips, construction materials... The export market was expanded to over 100 markets in countries and territories, an increase of 32 markets compared to 2016.

Total retail sales of goods increased by 11.38%/year in 2016. Infrastructure of industrial clusters, power grid infrastructure, and commercial infrastructure are increasingly attracting investment for development and completion, especially the network of traditional markets, general stores, shopping centers, and supermarkets.

During the year, the construction of the Nui Tien Pure Water and Fruit Juice Factory with large and modern capacity of TH Group in Nghia Dan was started. Investment in 110 KV power grid projects; medium and low voltage with a total cost of over 1,100 billion VND; Putting into operation two hydropower projects Ban Ang (17 MW) and Chau Thang Hydropower Plant (14 MW), bringing the total number of power generation projects in the province to 12 with a total capacity of 739.5 MW... Putting into operation supermarkets: Nguyen Kim, Huong Giang Trade Center, Media (Vinh City), Lotus (Nam Dan)...

Commercial centers associated with hotel and apartment complex projects in Con Cuong, Nam Dan, Vinh city, Cua Lo town, Thai Hoa... continue to be invested in and built; 03 new investment projects to build traditional markets in Do Luong, Tan Ky, Hoang Mai are granted investment certificates...

In 2018, the Industry and Trade sector strives for industrial production valuereached 56,107 billion VND, up 16% compared to 2017;Total retail sales of goods and service revenue reached 67,500 billion VND, up 9.5%. Total export turnover reached 1,000 million USD.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien acknowledged the efforts and achievements of the sector in the past time; at the same time, emphasizing that 2018 is the year of implementing the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2016 - 2018, therefore, he hoped that the Industry and Trade sector would continue to innovate the sector's trade and investment promotion activities; boost production and business, and effectively implement solutions to improve growth quality.

In addition, focus on state management in implementing legal regulations on industry and trade; Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of market management, inspection of production and trade of counterfeit goods and trade fraud; promote the campaign for Vietnamese people to prioritize using Vietnamese goods. At the same time, well implement the coordination regulations between provincial and local departments and branches in directing, operating and urging the inspection of the implementation of the 2018 program and plan tasks.
