The admission subjects are students who have completed the primary education program, students who have completed the illiteracy eradication program phase 2, and are of the age to enter grade 6 according to the regulations of the Charter of junior high schools, high schools and multi-level general schools.

In which, for secondary schools with the number of students applying does not exceed the enrollment quota, the admission method is implemented, accepting students who have completed the primary school program, students who have completed the illiteracy eradication program phase 2 to study in grade 6 of secondary school.
For secondary schools with the number of students registering to study exceeding the school's assigned quota, the admission criteria and student capacity assessment will be implemented.

Specifically, the admission criteria include: Annual education classification results at primary level; results of the handover test "Student education results" in grade 5; Competency assessment results; results of national awards organized or jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and Training on a national scale; results of provincial awards organized or jointly organized by the Department of Education and Training on a provincial scale; results of district, city, and town awards organized or jointly organized by the Department of Education and Training on a district, city, and town scale for cultural, artistic, and sports competitions; Results of international certificates of IT and foreign language proficiency.
In addition, the selection process is also based on competency assessment in forms such as: Q&A, writing, presentation, practice, experiment, etc.
According to the Department's instructions, the competency assessment must ensure knowledge content from 2 or more subjects, a maximum of 5 compulsory subjects in the primary education program (mainly grade 5 program).
The assessment must not exceed the curriculum prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training for primary school level, must not put pressure on students, must ensure assessment of students' abilities, must ensure fairness, publicity, transparency, and must be suitable to practical conditions.
The time for each assessment test is from 60 - 120 minutes.
Regarding the enrollment in grade 6, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Head of Secondary Education Department - Department of Education and Training said: Because this year, localities are merging communes and wards, early implementation of enrollment in grade 6 will be convenient for schools in the implementation process.
