Nghe An will merge forest ranger units in the second quarter of 2020
(Baonghean.vn) - Accordingly, Nghe An will merge 8 district-level forest ranger units into 4 inter-district forest ranger units.
The Provincial People's Committee has just issued Decision No. 1043/QD-UBND, dated April 7, 2020, approving the Project to establish inter-district forest ranger units on the basis of merging forest ranger units of districts, cities, and towns under Nghe An Forest Protection Sub-Department.

The Forest Protection Department currently has 24 affiliated units and 373 staff members, including: the Department Office; 21 forest ranger stations and 3 mobile forest ranger teams & fire prevention and fighting. The total forest area under management is 992,414 hectares, including 783,770 hectares of natural forest and 208,714 hectares of planted forest. In reality, some forest ranger stations only manage a small area of forest, leading to waste of human resources and inadequacies in the operation of the organization.
Implementing the Resolution of the 12th Central Committee, Session 6, on continuing to innovate and reorganize the political system, streamline, operate effectively and efficiently, and Project No. 09-DA/TU dated April 18, 2018 of the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, 8 district-level forest ranger units will be merged into 4 inter-district forest ranger units.
The names of the inter-district forest ranger units are as follows: Vinh - Cua Lo Forest Ranger Unit based on the merger of Vinh City Forest Ranger Unit and Cua Lo Town Forest Ranger Unit; Nam Dan - Hung Nguyen Forest Ranger Unit based on the merger of Nam Dan District Forest Ranger Unit and Hung Nguyen District Forest Ranger Unit; Nghia Dan - Thai Hoa Forest Ranger Unit based on the merger of Nghia Dan District Forest Ranger Unit and Thai Hoa Town Forest Ranger Unit; Quynh Luu - Hoang Mai Forest Ranger Unit based on the merger of Quynh Luu District Forest Ranger Unit and Hoang Mai Town Forest Ranger Unit.
The Inter-district Forest Protection Unit is a unit under the Forest Protection Sub-Department, performing the function of advising the District People's Committee in state management of forestry in the inter-district area, ensuring compliance with forestry laws according to the planning and plans approved by competent authorities.
The organizational structure of the Inter-District Forest Protection Department has a head and no more than 02 deputy heads; no more than 04 departments including: Administrative department; Legal department; Technical department and Forest Protection department. The staff and number of employees of the Inter-District Forest Protection Department are assigned by the Provincial People's Committee according to the annual plan.
According to the approved roadmap, the Department of Home Affairs will advise the Provincial People's Committee to decide on the establishment of inter-district forest ranger stations, to be completed in the second quarter of 2020.
