Nghe An strengthens measures to prevent and control dengue fever

On September 5, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued an official dispatch "On strengthening the prevention and control of dengue fever in the province" to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, the Provincial Military Command, relevant departments, unions, socio-political organizations and districts, cities and towns in the province.

According to the official dispatch: From the beginning of 2022 to now, Nghe An province has recorded 503 cases of infection.dengue fever, of which 350 cases were internal (8 times higher than in 2021). Infections were concentrated in the district.Nghi Loc(105 cases), Dien Chau district (84 cases), Quynh Luu district (117 cases). Especially appearing in coastal areas, mountainous areas and some localities that have not recorded any cases before (Yen Thanh, Quy Hop, ...). However, in some localities, the involvement of authorities and social organizations is still not resolute; people's awareness in complying with regulations on epidemic prevention is still limited.

To be ready to respond to all developments of the epidemic, the Provincial People's Committee requests heads of departments, branches, sectors, unions and socio-political organizations in the area; Chairmen of People's Committees of districts, cities and towns to strengthen the prevention and control of dengue fever.

The People's Committee of Nghe An province requests the Department of Health to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and branches to deploy the contents of dengue fever prevention and control in the area; direct the health sector system, medical facilities in the province to prepare adequate supplies of drugs, infusion fluids, blood and blood products, emergency equipment to receive, admit and treat patients promptly; organize training on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of dengue fever for medical facilities; train regulations on administrative sanctions in the health sector for medical staff of the Health Department of districts, cities and towns; direct the investigation and close monitoring of cases and disease-carrying insects to monitor and detect early, promptly and thoroughly handle outbreaks within 24 hours in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Health; establish inspection teams to supervise dengue fever prevention and control in districts, cities and towns, especially key areas and previous outbreaks.

The Department of Information and Communications shall preside over and coordinate with the Department of Health and the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department to guide and direct press agencies to carry out propaganda work on measures to kill mosquitoes and larvae to prevent and control dengue fever; propagate the risks and harms of dengue fever to raise people's awareness in protecting their own health and that of their families.

The Department of Education and Training closely coordinates with the health sector to develop plans and direct educational institutions and schools in the province to organize activities to prevent dengue fever in schools in accordance with the instructions of the health sector, mobilize students to participate in activities to kill mosquitoes, larvae, and pupae at home and in the community according to the instructions of the health sector, considering this one of the extracurricular activities of students.

People's Committees of districts, cities and towns establish and strengthen Steering Committees for epidemic prevention at all levels, assign specific responsibilities to members related to the locality; resolutely direct departments, branches and organizations to participate in the work of preventing and controlling dengue fever and unify viewpoints throughout the government system and departments, branches and organizations in the locality: "The risk of causing dengue fever is always present everywhere, so proactively preventing dengue fever is a regular task of all individuals and organizations".

Develop and implement the Plan "Controlling dengue fever risk points" in the locality according to the instructions of the health sector; continue to promote the integration of environmental sanitation activities to prevent and control diseases into other regular activities; implement practical activities to communicate dengue fever prevention according to the instructions of the health sector; regularly inspect and strictly handle individuals, units and organizations that intentionally do not follow dengue fever prevention instructions, causing the spread of the disease in the locality; proactively arrange the budget at one's level to carry out epidemic prevention tasks under the responsibility of the district-level budget.

Nghe An Provincial Youth Union coordinated with the Department of Health to mobilize union members and young volunteers to participate in cleaning the environment, destroying mosquito larvae to prevent and control dengue fever in residential areas, offices, factories, schools and at each union member's home to effectively prevent the disease.

The Provincial People's Committee requests the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and mass organizations to coordinate and support the health sector in propaganda and mobilization of people to prevent and control epidemics; direct the inclusion of epidemic prevention and control into regular activities; mobilize households, blocks, and residential groups to clean up waste, water containers, and periodically implement measures to kill mosquitoes, larvae, and pupae; promote the exemplary role of households that are cadres, civil servants, public employees, associations, and mass organizations.
