Nghe An strengthens solutions to prevent and fight forest fires when the heat lasts for a long time
Although it has entered the rainy season, Nghe An is still experiencing intense heat, with temperatures of nearly 38-39 degrees Celsius, and the risk of forest fires is always high. Localities are continuing to strengthen measures to prevent and combat forest fires.
24/7 forest gate guard
In the last days of August, the sun was scorching hot, but at the checkpoint right at the forest entrance, the road to Xuan Son hamlet, Dien Doai commune, Dien Chau district, there were always militia, commune police, and forestry officers on duty 24/7 to protect the forest. People entering and leaving the forest fire prevention and control checkpoints in Dien Doai commune all complied with the personal information declaration. Every day, about 25-30 people entered the forest to exploit pine resin or take care of the farm.

Mr. Nguyen Khanh Duong - Chairman of Dien Doai Commune People's Committee said: The whole commune has 469 hectares of forest, of which 181 hectares are pine forests. Currently, many areas have not been treated due to financial difficulties, leading to a high risk of forest fires. In addition to blocking the forest entrance, the commune has directed forces to patrol and control the pine forest area. In just over 10 hot days, more than 20 people have been reminded and strictly prohibited from entering the forest to catch bees. Commune forestry officers regularly inspect, handle, and strictly prohibit households from treating and burning the ground cover to plant acacia.
Dien Chau district has over 2,000 hectares of pine forests. To minimize the risk of forest fires, the district is currently directing 4 checkpoints at the forest gates, with forces on duty 24/7, including 2 checkpoints in Dien Phu commune, 1 checkpoint in Dien Doai commune, and 1 checkpoint in Minh Chau commune.

Despite the intense heat, these days, forest rangers from the Nam Giang Forest Protection Management Station (under the Nam Dan Special-Use Forest Management Board) take turns to be on duty 24/7 at the fire watchtowers. At the same time, patrolling and controlling people and vehicles entering the forest have been increased.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Binh - Nam Giang commune forest management and protection staff said: This watchtower is 40 meters high, looking through binoculars, it can cover forest fires, detect and warn of forest fires for the entire Nam Dan district and part of the forest area of Hung Nguyen and Thanh Chuong districts. From the watchtower, forest fires were detected, and local forces promptly handled them to prevent the fire from spreading.

Mr. Dau Dinh Hung - Head of Nam Dan Special Use Forest Management Board said: At this time, the hot weather continues, Nam Dan Special Use Forest Management Board has 7 fire watchtowers in Nam Giang, Nam Nghia, Nam Hung, Nam Kim communes... Forest rangers are on duty 24/24 hours during the hot weather. Through the watchtowers, some small fires were discovered and forces were deployed to extinguish them promptly.
Nam Dan district currently has over 5,000 hectares of pine forests. To proactively prevent and fight forest fires, at this time, the Nam Dan Special-Use Forest Management Board is coordinating with contracted households to clear over 500 hectares of vegetation in key areas, repairing 33 km of firebreaks, and preparing 15 fire blowers and other fire-fighting equipment.
