Firefighting in pine forest in Nghi Loc district, 2 officers injured
A forest fire just happened this morning in Nghi Tien commune, Nghi Loc district.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Lam - Head of Nghi Loc Forest Ranger Department said: At around 10:00 am on August 23, a fire broke out in the pine forest area of hamlet 14, Nghi Tien commune.
Immediately after receiving the fire alarm, functional forces including: Forest rangers, Nghi Loc Protective Forest Management Board, police and local authorities mobilized more than 200 people to participate in fire fighting.

The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department - Provincial Police has directed Fire Fighting and Rescue Team No. 8 to mobilize 1 fire truck to coordinate in extinguishing the fire. Due to steep hills, hot weather and strong winds, it was difficult to contain and extinguish the pine forest fire.

With the efforts of the firefighting force, by nearly 2:00 p.m. on August 23, the fire was under control. Initial damage is estimated at over 2 hectares of forest. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
While participating in fighting the forest fire, two officers of the Nghi Loc District Forest Protection Management Board were burned and were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment by the authorities and people.


Currently, authorities are continuing to keep watch to prevent the fire from re-igniting./.
