Nghe An: Strengthening coordination with Ha Tinh province to effectively carry out blood reception and supply work

In 2022, the work of directing and organizingvoluntary blood donationIn Nghe An, blood donation campaigns have been conducted seriously and scientifically, so the blood donation campaigns have become increasingly effective. Up to now, the voluntary blood donation work in Nghe An province continues to develop strongly: The amount of blood received has increased gradually over the years; both the subjects and locations of blood donation have expanded; the rate of blood donation with a volume of 350 ml has increased; the rate of voluntary and repeated blood donation has increased...

Specifically, from January to November 2022, Nghe An mobilized and received 33,506 units of blood. From the received blood source, Nghe An Hematology and Blood Transfusion Center extracted and supplied 60,355 units of blood and blood products to 40 medical examination and treatment units in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces (including 4 units in Ha Tinh province); basically ensuring the need for blood and blood products in emergency and treatment for patients and exceeding the set plan.

Besides the achievements, the advocacy workdonate bloodand blood supply in Nghe An still has many difficulties, that is: Some localities have not closely directed blood donation work; there is no close coordination, initiative in the number of people registering and participating in blood donation at the grassroots level; operating budget is still limited, causing difficulties in reception; imbalance in blood groups causes many difficulties in regulating blood and blood products; there is also a situation of "fullness, hunger" due to unreasonable blood donation plan; facilities and equipment have not met the reserve needs to regulate blood and blood products.

At the workshop, the delegates focused on discussing and sharing experiences in mobilizing people to increase blood donation, as well as discussing solutions to effectively implement the voluntary blood donation plan in 2023. Specifically: Receiving blood reaching 37,000 units/year; increasing the rate of receiving 350 ml volume to exceed 60%; increasing the rate of repeat blood donation to exceed 60%; mobilizing at least 1.1% of the population to participate in voluntary blood donation/year.

Accordingly, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation and the Red Cross at all levels need to organize effective and impressive blood donation events; develop small and medium-sized blood donation programs, organize blood donations in commune/ward clusters to increase blood donors, avoid congestion, reduce waiting time when people come to donate blood; and receive appropriate blood types to avoid excess or shortage of blood types.

Improve the effectiveness of communication activities to raise public awareness of voluntary blood donation, mobilize people from all walks of life to participate in blood donation; promote the effectiveness of blood donation clubs, platelet donation to meet the needs of emergency; effectively organize fixed blood donation points; coordinate with Ha Tinh province to effectively carry out blood collection work in districts in Ha Tinh./.
