Nghe An: Highlights of May 21st
The memorial service and burial of 80 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos; the conference to deploy tasks for the 2026 provincial defense zone exercise; and fines exceeding 1.1 billion VND for food safety violations during the 2026 Food Safety Action Month... are some of the highlights of the day.
*On the morning of May 21st, a solemn ceremony was held at the Nghi Loc Martyrs' Cemetery (Dong Loc commune), Nghe An province.Memorial service and burial for 80 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts.Those who sacrificed their lives in Laos will be gathered during the 2025-2026 dry season and brought back to their beloved homeland.
*In Vinh Phu ward, Nghe An province, the Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with the investor, organized an event.Groundbreaking ceremony for the housing project for the People's Public Security armed forces.The project includes two 14-story social housing buildings with one basement level, along with a 5-story commercial housing complex. The preliminary total investment for the project is nearly 659 billion VND, with completion expected in Q4/2028, ensuring handover and commissioning in Q1/2029.
*Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu– The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council held a working session with the Standing Committee of the Party Committees of 8 communes: Dien Chau, Duc Chau, Quang Chau, Hai Chau, Tan Chau, An Chau, Minh Chau, and Hung Chau, regarding the socio-economic development, Party building, and the operation of the two-level local government.
* On the afternoon of May 21st, the Provincial People's Committee organized...Conference to deploy tasks for regional defense exercise.(Provincial Defense Zone) Exercise 2026. At the conference, the Provincial People's Committee announced the Decision to establish the Organizing Committee, supporting subcommittees, and the Secretariat for the Provincial Defense Zone Exercise 2026. Accordingly, the Organizing Committee consists of 28 members, chaired by Mr. Vo Trong Hai - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with 7 Vice-Chairmen and 20 members.
* On the afternoon of May 21st,Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairperson of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Working with the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of 7 communes: Nghi Loc, Phuc Loc, Dong Loc, Trung Loc, Than Linh, Hai Loc, and Van Kieu on the situation of socio-economic development, national defense and security, Party building, and the political system.
The People's Committee of Nghe An province and Vietnam Airlines Corporation organized the event.Signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on Comprehensive CooperationFor the period 2026-2030, with new development potential in terms of administrative boundaries and large FDI projects, Nghe An province hopes that Vietnam Airlines will work with Nghe An to build a tourism brand that reaches international standards; and soon establish direct flights from Vinh to South Korea, Japan, and China to serve the needs of investors and the people.

*Nghe AnFines totaling over 1.1 billion VND were imposed for food safety violations.During the 2026 Food Safety Action Month, the entire province established 134 inter-agency and specialized inspection teams from the provincial to the commune level. According to reports from the inspection teams, out of a total of 1,545 establishments inspected, 1,220 met the standards (accounting for 89.2%).
