Nghe An: Agricultural growth rate reaches highest in North Central region

(Baonghean.vn) - In 2022, in difficult conditions, Nghe An's Agriculture and Rural Development sector still has an estimated growth rate (GRDP) of 4.78%, while this figure for the whole country is below 3.0%.

On the morning of December 29, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a conference to summarize the year 2022 and deploy the plan for 2023. Many targets were completed beyond the assigned plan.

In 2022, under many difficult conditions, especially the complicated developments of the world situation, climate, weather, epidemics, natural disasters, and floods, Nghe An Agriculture and Rural Development sector has made many efforts to complete and exceed the assigned plan targets. In particular, the growth rate (GRDP) is estimated at 4.78%, while this figure for the whole country is below 3.0%. The basic targets were all completed and exceeded the assigned plan, the economic structure within the sector shifted in the right direction.

Total output of grain crops is estimated at 1,209 thousand tons; output of fresh meat for slaughter is 282 thousand tons, up 4.44% compared to 2021; fresh milk output is 285 million liters, up 14% compared to 2021; timber exploitation is more than 1,628 million m3, up 8.38% compared to 2021; aquaculture and fisheries output reached over 270 thousand tons...

Along with that, the work of processing, consuming and managing the quality of agricultural, forestry, fishery products and food hygiene and safety has achieved positive and promising results. The new rural construction movement has truly become a widespread movement; in 2022, 10/10 communes met the New Rural standards, 22/20 communes met the Advanced New Rural standards, 4/4 communes met the Model New Rural standards; 2 districts met the New Rural standards. Accumulated to the end of 2022, it is estimated that 309/411 communes, reaching 75.18%, 42 communes met the Advanced New Rural standards, 6 model New Rural communes and 9 district-level units completed the task, meeting the New Rural standards.

Stick to the plan and implement it promptly from the beginning of the year.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee noted: Although not the sector with the largest contribution to the provincial budget, the Agriculture and Rural Development sector has made a great contribution to stabilizing the lives of nearly 84.5% of the population living in rural areas. The agricultural sector is considered a bright spot in the province's economic development.

At the conference, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also pointed out a number of limitations that need to be overcome in the coming time, such as: Some production targets have not yet reached the plan; the replication and development of models applying scientific and technical advances as well as land accumulation to organize large-scale production, attracting businesses to invest in agriculture and rural areas are still limited...

To successfully implement the 2023 plan, it requires the efforts and determination of the entire industry, the support and effective coordination of sectors, levels and localities, along with the joint efforts, overcoming difficulties and creativity of businesses and farmers in the province. "The industry needs to closely follow the assigned plan and targets, promptly develop growth plans and scenarios; resolutely organize and implement tasks and solutions from the beginning of the year to ensure that the set plan targets are achieved and exceeded." - The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized.

In particular, attention should be paid to attracting businesses to invest in agriculture and rural areas; strengthening cooperation and linking production along the agricultural product value chain, forming closely linked models; strengthening and improving the effectiveness of agricultural material quality management and food hygiene and safety.

At the same time, continue to improve infrastructure serving agriculture and rural areas; speed up progress and improve the quality of new rural construction; effectively implement programs and plans to protect and develop forests.
