Nghe An: Arresting a group of young people buying and selling drugs at night

(Baonghean.vn) - The car stopped at Dong Hoi intersection (Quynh Thien Ward, Hoang Mai Town). Two young men got out of the car and lit cigarettes. While they were making the transaction, the police arrived and arrested them.

Nghia Dan District Police are detaining Mai Van Vinh (born 1997), Mai Van Dung (born 1996), and Nguyen Dinh Hieu (born 1966), all residing in Dien Hong Commune, Dien Chau District, to investigate drug trafficking.

In early August 2017, through professional work, Nghia Dan District Police discovered a drug trafficking ring from Laos to Vietnam, then bringing it to the northern provinces for consumption, mainly synthetic drugs.

Through investigation and collection of documents, the detectives discovered two young men from Dien Chau, suspected to be the leaders of a large-scale drug trafficking ring. The modus operandi of the subjects was very sophisticated and cunning, frequently changing locations for drug transactions, not following any specific rules.

Using professional measures, detectives clarified the identities of the two subjects, Mai Van Vinh (20 years old) and Mai Van Dung (21 years old), both residing in Bac Hong hamlet, Dien Hong, Dien Chau district.

These subjects often go to Laos to buy drugs to bring back to Vietnam to sell to a number of subjects in the districts of Dien Chau, Nghia Dan, Thai Hoa town to sell to the northern provinces. With the collected documents, the Nghia Dan district police established a special project coded 917V to destroy and arrest the subjects.

On September 4, the Task Force received information that on the night of September 5, Vinh and Dung would deliver the "goods" to a subject in Hoang Mai Town, but the specific time and location were unknown. Nghia Dan District Police took the lead and coordinated with Hoang Mai Town Police to deploy a plan to solve the case, but had to ensure absolute safety of the force, to prevent the subjects from acting rashly.

The task force has arranged 3 working groups to directly participate in solving the case. The first group is present in Dien Chau district to secretly monitor the movements of the subjects. The second working group is responsible for moving from Dien Chau district to Hoang Mai town under the direction of the head of the task force. The remaining working group coordinates with Hoang Mai town police to ambush and catch the subjects red-handed.

At around 7:00 p.m. on September 5, 2017, the reconnaissance team discovered Mai Van Vinh and Mai Van Dung leaving their house on a motorbike with license plate 37F1-886.27. When they reached National Highway 1A, both subjects headed in the direction of Dien Chau - Hoang Mai but were extremely cautious. Occasionally, they turned into a village road, then returned to National Highway 1A and sped off like arrows in the dark night to "lose the tail" of the authorities.

At 8 p.m. the same day, they arrived at the Dong Hoi intersection, Quynh Thien ward, Hoang Mai town, then pulled their motorbike into the bushes along the road. Then, Vinh and Dung used a gas lighter to light a cigarette. About 10 minutes later, the third person appeared.

Identifying the subjects who were buying and selling drugs, two scouts from two sides suddenly rushed in like pincers, knocked down and arrested the subjects. Being attacked unexpectedly, the subjects fought back fiercely, but were handcuffed.

During the body check, the police seized 7 polyethylene packages containing white powder and about 2,000 synthetic drug pills. The stranger took advantage of the chaos and darkness to escape. The investigation team is verifying and pursuing him.

Expanding the investigation of the case, on September 6, the Task Force arrested Nguyen Dinh Hieu (born in 1966), residing in Dien Hong commune, Dien Chau district, for his involvement in the illegal drug trafficking ring of Vinh and Dung. Searching Hieu's house, the authorities seized 3 packages of crystal meth (unknown weight).

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duc Cuong - Head of Nghia Dan District Police, said that Hieu had a previous conviction for gambling and a previous conviction for illegal drug trafficking. After serving his prison sentence and returning to his hometown for a while, Hieu, Vinh and Dung teamed up to establish a very sophisticated synthetic drug trafficking ring.

To deceive the authorities and local authorities, the above subjects often pretend to be grocery traders from Laos to Vietnam, but their cover did not escape the eyes of the people. The case is still being expanded and investigated.
