(Baonghean.vn) - According to the targets of the 18th Provincial Party Resolution, Nghe An strives to achieve the target of 50 communes reaching the NTM target by 2020.

However, this target was achieved 2 years ago. Up to now, the whole province has 265 communes meeting new rural standards, equal to 61.48% of the total number of communes, higher than the national average of completing the task of building and meeting new rural standards.

This is an outstanding result demonstrating the determined efforts to build new rural areas of the entire political system from the province to the grassroots level.

During more than 10 years of building new rural areas, especially in the last term (2015-2019), the new rural construction program has received attention from leaders and direction, creating consensus and support from the people, becoming a widespread emulation movement and achieving many achievements.

Resource mobilization has been closely monitored and actively implemented. The total capital mobilized to implement the New Rural Development Program in the 2016-2019 period reached over VND 16,837 billion (of which resources mobilized from the people were VND 2,706 billion, accounting for 16.1%).

Village, inter-commune and inter-hamlet traffic has completely changed its appearance. In the period 2016-2019, Nghe An invested in upgrading and building 6,276 km of new rural roads. Currently, the whole province has 285/431 communes meeting criterion number 2 on traffic (reaching 66.13%).

Production development and income increase are the key points that are focused on. Some highly effective models include: raising safe biological chickens in Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Quy Chau, Que Phong districts; raising breeding cows combined with grass growing in Thanh Chuong, Nam Dan, Quynh Luu, Dien Chau, Nghi Loc districts, climbing fish farming model in Con Cuong, raising sea bass in Cua Lo, raising shrimp in rice fields in Thanh Chuong, growing red dragon fruit in Con Cuong, Tan Ky, growing melons in Vinh City, Quynh Luu, Yen Thanh...; the average income per capita in rural areas is currently over 22.6 million VND/person/year (in 2015 it was 19.6 million VND).

Nghe An has many good and creative ways of building effective production models, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of rural people. In particular, the province has had creative ways of focusing on building new rural villages and hamlets in mountainous areas with difficult economic and social conditions. Currently, Vinh city, Thai Hoa town, Nam Dan district have been recognized for completing the task of building and meeting new rural standards; Yen Thanh district is completing the dossier to submit for recognition of meeting new rural standards.

Not only has the appearance and infrastructure changed, but the material and spiritual life of rural people has gradually improved. The ecological environment has been protected, and security and order have been maintained more firmly than before.

The whole province has 674 villages and hamlets recognized as meeting new rural standards. In addition, the province is focusing on directing the construction of model new rural districts and communes and implementing the new rural construction project in 27 communes in the Vietnam - Laos border area according to Decision No. 61/QD-TTg dated January 12, 2018 of the Prime Minister.
