Nghe An fines 15 more ship owners for violating the Fisheries Law

From June 12 to 24, based on verification, patrolling and controlling at sea, Nghe An province's functional forces fined 15 more fishing boat owners for violating the Fisheries Law.

Specifically, on June 24, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district issued decisions to sanction 7 fishing boat owners, including 6 boats of people residing in Son Hai commune, including the sea vessel with registration number NA - 95021-TS of Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan; the boat with registration number NA-98899-TS of Mr. Dau Ngoc Cuong; the sea vessel with registration number NA-94039-TS of Mr. Tran Hau Phuc; the boat with registration number NA-93047-TS of Mr. Ho Sy Hop and the boat with registration number NA-93073 of Mr. Nguyen Van Ha; 1 fishing boat of Mr. Ho Van Thuyet in Quynh Nghia commune, registration number NA- 91888- TS.

The above fishing boat owners were all fined for the same violation of not complying with regulations in case the fishing boat's vehicle monitoring system (VMS) is damaged according to the provisions in Point c, Clause 2, Article 35, Decree No. 42/2029/ND-CP of the Government regulating administrative sanctions in the field of fisheries. The fine for each violating boat owner is 22.5 million VND.

A representative of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district said: Implementing the province's direction on strengthening verification and handling of violations of disconnection and illegal exploitation of sea areas, from the beginning of 2024 to now, Quynh Luu district alone has fined 26 fishing boats with a total amount of 574 million VND.

In parallel with the inspection and handling of Quynh Luu district, based on coastal patrol and control, the fisheries control force has advised the competent authority to apply Decree No. 38/2024/ND-CP to fine 8 more fishing boat owners for violations. Specifically, they are 3 fishing boats of Mr. Vu Van Hong with a fine of 4.75 million VND; Mr. Nguyen Van Ha (born in 1981) was fined 750 thousand VND and Nguyen Van Ha (born in 1987) was fined 2.5 million VND, all residing in Dien Ngoc commune (Dien Chau, Nghe An).

According to the minutes, the above ship owners/captains were fined for not having a fishing logbook for fishing vessels with a maximum length of 12 m to less than 15 m; not carrying the original or a certified copy of the Fishing Vessel Registration Certificate when fishing vessels are operating; not carrying the Fishing Vessel Technical Safety Certificate when operating and marking the fishing vessel in violation of regulations in the case of fishing vessels with a maximum length of 15 m to less than 24 m.

In addition, another inspection team of the provincial Fisheries Surveillance force has drawn up a record of fines for 5 other fishing boats, including 3 boats of fishermen in Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu district, including 1 boat of Mr. To Ngoc Truong and 2 fishing boats of Mr. Tran Van Chat and Mr. Tran Van Luong; 2 fishing boats of Mr. Tran Van Thanh in Lien Thanh group, Hai Chau ward and Mr. Nguyen Van Tung in Hai Ha commune, Nghi Son town (Thanh Hoa). The above boats were each fined from 1.5 million VND to 4 million VND for the act of marking fishing boats in violation of regulations in the case of using fishing boats with the longest length from 12 m to under 15 m or boats with the longest length from 15 m to under 24 m./.
