Suspect in killing taxi driver in Nghe An said he took the risk due to desperation
(Baonghean.vn) - At the police station, Hung initially confessed that because he couldn't borrow money and was in dire straits, he decided to rob a taxi.
On the afternoon of August 20, Major General Pham The Tung - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of Nghe An Provincial Police Department said that the investigation agency is still taking statements from the suspect who killed the taxi driver in Anh Son district.
The suspect, Nguyen Van Hung (34 years old, residing in Thuong Tan Loc commune, Nam Dan district), was arrested less than a day after committing the crime, while hiding in Anh Son town, Anh Son district.
At the police station, Hung initially confessed that due to personal debt, on the afternoon of August 18, he went to meet his family in Cam Son commune, Anh Son district to borrow money. However, because he could not borrow money, he was in dire straits and thought of robbing a taxi.

On the afternoon of August 19, posing as a passenger, he had a fruit knife ready and called a taxi from Mr. Dang Dinh T. (36 years old, Phuc Son commune, Anh Son district). After getting in the car, knowing that Route 7B from Cam Son commune to Hung Son was deserted, he directed the taxi to go in this direction.
When approaching the cemetery, seeing that the driver was not paying attention and there was no one around, Hung started threatening the driver with a knife with the intention of robbing him. However, the victim resisted and Hung killed him. Seeing that the victim was dead, he quickly fled the scene.
Previously, as reported by Nghe An Newspaper, at around 5:00 p.m. on August 19, some people were shocked when they discovered a man lying in a pool of blood while traveling on National Highway 7B, passing through Tan Hoi village (now Cam Hoa village, Cam Son commune, Anh Son district). At the scene, the victim died with a cut across his neck, and a few dozen meters from the body was a taxi that crashed into the hillside next to the road. On the driver's seat of the taxi, many blood stains were discovered...
The case is under investigation.
