"In eastern Aleppo, we have now seen the results and the recent failures of a number of foreign friends who support the Syrian opposition to separate the Syrian opposition from the organization" Jabhat al-Nusra "(banned in Russia), contrary to the commitments made in January of this year that the United States would do so. At that time, they assured us that within a few weeks they could achieve the separation of these factions in Syria. And then the start of the political process, the resolution of the humanitarian issue, the participation of different groups in the negotiation process," Lavrov said.
In addition, the Russian Foreign Minister accused those demanding the overthrow of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad of disrupting negotiations between Syrian factions.
"… for more than half a year now, the negotiations have been stalled by violators of the resolution who have issued an ultimatum on the need to first eliminate President Assad. For us, this is of course unacceptable," Russia's top diplomat said.
