Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov: "Russia will not become a tool serving US interests"
Washington will not be able to turn Russia into a tool serving US interests, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei said.
"The Americans demonize us in order to keep Europe in line and strengthen the Euro-Atlantic relationship. Or, as is now the hotly debated topic of how to use Russia against China to serve their interests. Even attempts to change the government in our country or change Russia's policies (many in Washington have such illusions) stem from the desire to turn us into a tool for the interests of the United States," Lavrov said.
"We know the countries that were forced by the Americans to play this role, but of course this will not be possible for us," - the Russian minister added.
According to him, until the "objectification" of Russia, the remnants of the Cold War "have not disappeared from the consciousness of the American elite and left reality, the relationship will remain unchanged." Mr. Lavrov noted that "selective interaction" is disadvantageous, because it does not help to consolidate positive trends, and also leads to an unpredictable future."For our part, we build relations with any country based on values. We are ready to act in the same spirit with the United States. I repeat: the potential for constructive bilateral interaction is huge, but it has not been realized for decades. I think that our peoples deserve much better than what we have now," the Russian minister said.
