Russian Foreign Minister: Americans do not understand the uselessness of sanctions
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking about the next package of sanctions the United States is preparing to impose on Russia, said he regretted that the Americans had not yet realized the uselessness of this measure.
"I'm not warning them, I'm just saying that it's nonsense. Nothing more. I don't know what their goals are. If the Americans still don't understand that sanctions don't work, I really feel sorry for them," Lavrov said on the "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin" program on the "Rossia 1" channel.

Russian Presidential Assistant Yury Ushakov also expressed his opinion on this issue. According to him, the relationship between the two countries is currently extremely complicated."In my opinion, everything is bad. The prospects for relations are also unclear. We will consider sanctions and then decide on a response," Mr. Ushakov said on the TV channel.
On February 13, US senators from both the Democratic and Republican parties introduced new legislation to Congress that, if passed, would impose severe new sanctions on the Russian banking and energy sectors, as well as on Russian government debt. The proposed sanctions are for "interference in US elections," "malign influence in Syria," and "aggression in Ukraine."
