(Baonghean.vn) - On January 14, Mr. Lo Van Ly, a fisherman on the upper Lam River in Tuong Duong district (Nghe An), caught a rare large eel.

The fish was 1.6 m long and weighed more than 11 kg. After catching it, Mr. Ly sold it to Mr. Nguyen Van Tam in Block 5, Con Cuong town for more than 10 million VND.

Mr. Ly said that he has been fishing on the Lam River for many years and often catches eels, however, eels weighing more than 10 kg like this are very rare. Currently, this type of fish is becoming increasingly rare, and one is lucky to only find a few a year.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tam - a fish buyer in Con Cuong town said: Since the beginning of the year, this is the biggest eel I have seen. The fish meat will be sold for 1 million VND/kg.

Eels are freshwater fish with smooth skin, long, round bodies, long whiskers on their heads, and few bones. They usually live in caves and crevices where water flows. To catch eels, fishermen must use hooks, nets, or spears to spear the fish.

Eel has firm, delicious meat and high nutritional value, so it is very popular with diners and they are willing to pay high prices to buy it.
