(Baonghean.vn) - Hundreds of fishing boats of Quynh Luu fishermen returned to port in the joy of a good harvest of exported hairtail fish, each boat earning an average of over 300 million VND.

After days of no seafood purchasing due to the impact of storms and rains, on the morning of October 29, hundreds of fishing boats of fishermen from the communes of Quynh Nghia, Tien Thuy, Son Hai, Quynh Long... returned to shore in the joy of a good fishing season.

At Lach Quen Fishing Port (Tien Thuy Commune), there are continuous scenes of seafood being transported from ships to shore for sale to traders. Fisherman Nguyen Cong Luu, owner of vehicle NA 90289 in Manh Son Parish, Tien Thuy Commune, said that after 10 days at sea, his ship caught dozens of tons of fish and squid of all kinds; 1.5 tons of exported hairtail alone, bringing in an income of more than 250 million VND.

“After 15 days of being stranded due to storms and rough seas, our ship set sail on October 19. Not only my ship but almost all fishing boats that docked this time had a good catch of fish, especially fresh needlefish and squid, which are valuable seafood,” Mr. Luu shared.

Quynh Luu district has nearly 1,200 fishing boats, of which about 700 are offshore fishing boats. Recently, due to the impact of storms and rains, all boats had to stop working for about a month. With favorable weather, from October 17 to 19, many boats set sail for fishing.

Mr. Nguyen Kim Duong - owner of an iron-hulled boat in Tien Thuy commune said that this year, Quynh Luu fishermen were generally successful, especially in catching a lot of hairtail and fresh squid with high economic value. Like previous years, each trip out to sea, each boat only caught about 500 - 700 kg of hairtail at most, but this year many boats brought in 1 - 2 tons of hairtail, bringing in hundreds of millions of VND in revenue.

“This year, most fishermen have had a big catch of seafood, especially in the last 3 years, fishermen have had high incomes at sea. On this trip alone, my boat earned more than 500 million VND, each crew member earned 7-9 million VND/trip,” said Mr. Nguyen Kim Duong.

Boats docked full of shrimp, fish, and squid, and traders from all over came to buy. Currently, due to the good season for hairtail fish, the purchase price is cheaper than previous times. Grade 1 hairtail fish costs 90,000 VND/kg (previously 120,000 - 150,000 VND/kg); grade 2 fish costs 50,000 VND/kg, a decrease of 20,000 VND compared to before). Hairtail fish are purchased by traders for processing and export to countries such as China, Korea, etc.
