The death anniversary of the Hung Kings has become a traditional custom, a beautiful cultural feature to commemorate the merits of the Hung Kings who built the country. And like every Vietnamese person, every year on the 10th of the 3rd lunar month, every Nghe An person turns to the land of the ancestors, to the origin of the nation with many meaningful activities.

An ancient temple with Nguyen Dynasty architecture, Hong Son Temple is known to people nationwide as the only temple in Vinh City to worship Hung Vuong - the founder of the country. Every year, on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month, Vinh City People's Committee organizes the Hung Vuong's death anniversary at the temple.

Up to this point, all preparations have been completed for the ceremony, the festival and the security and order. It is known that this year's Hung King's death anniversary will take place solemnly in 2 parts. The ceremony includes incense offering, flower offering, and a eulogy to the Hung King; the festival includes martial arts performances to show the Hung King's spirit; tug of war and stick pushing competitions between wards and communes...

Currently, Hong Son Temple still preserves the tablets of 18 Hung Kings in the central palace to serve scientific research, spiritual and cultural activities and cultural tourism. At this Temple, there are 3 major festivals every year: Hung King's death anniversary (10th of the 3rd lunar month), Hung Dao Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan's death anniversary (20th of the 8th lunar month) and Holy Mother Lieu Hanh's death anniversary (03rd of the 3rd lunar month).

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga - Ben Thuy ward - Vinh city said: she cannot go to Hung Temple Phu Tho to burn incense for Hung Kings, but every year on the anniversary of the death of the Hung Kings, she and her family go to burn incense at Hong Son Temple.

Along with Hong Son Temple (Vinh City), it has become a tradition that on the Hung King's death anniversary on March 10, many visitors from all over the country come to Cuong Temple to offer incense and flowers in memory of King Thuc An Duong Vuong, the 18th Hung King of the nation.

Every year, at the Temple, the People's Committee of Dien Chau district and Dien An commune organize the Ancestor's death anniversary according to traditional rituals. The ceremony is carried out very solemnly. The offerings are products such as Chung cake, Day cake, pig's head, colorful sticky rice...

At the temple yard, the elders of Dien An organized a talk to review the tradition of building and defending the country for more than 4,000 years of our ancestors. Thereby, encouraging each Dien Chau citizen to make efforts to unite and join hands to build the homeland to become increasingly prosperous, worthy of being the descendants of Lac Hong.

Mr. Cao Van Luong - Head of Cuong Temple Management Board said: Every year, the Temple holds a ceremony to commemorate the ancestors on March 10, praying for national peace and prosperity.

On the occasion of the Hung Kings' death anniversary, the Dien Chau cultural sector also directed the authorities of communes, towns, and clans to organize activities to return to the roots, offering incense to the Hung Kings' death anniversary according to traditional rituals at 37 national and provincial relics. Along with that, folk games such as cockfighting, wrestling, human chess, folk singing, ca tru, sports competitions... Schools also organized discussions and exchanges between history teachers, seniors... with students. Through the above activities, the aim is to educate the young generation of the district about the tradition of "remembering the source of water when drinking" of the Vietnamese people.

At clans, at historical sites, many localities in the province have organized a number of activities such as worshiping, introducing heritage values ​​to students, youth union members, organizing people to offer incense, introducing the legend of Lac Hong descendants.

Every Nghe An citizen, whether they are making a pilgrimage to Hung Temple or commemorating their ancestors in their own way, shows the tradition of “remembering the source when drinking water” and “remembering the person who planted the tree when eating fruit”, together with the people of the whole country, forever preserving the Hung King worship belief, which has been recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
