The entire Hat village has 216 households. In addition to contributing bamboo, each household must have one person participate on the day of the bridge construction. The women and the elderly are responsible for picking up stones and arranging them into pillars to serve as bridge pillars. Photo: Ho Phuong |

Arranging the stones into the bridge pillars is also very important and requires a lot of effort. The people of Hat village use many steel wires to weave into a net to tie the stones together. Doing so will help the bridge pillars to be more solid. Photo: Ho Phuong |

Each bridge only lasts for about half a year. During the rainy season, these bridges are naturally carried away by the flood. After the rainy season, the people of Hat village call each other to rebuild another bridge. Mr. Vi Van Thanh, a local resident, said that although he had to wade through the freezing cold water to build the bridge, he and other villagers were very happy. "With the bridge, it will be more convenient for people to go to meetings and watch performances. This is the National Unity Day, so people will perform, sing and have fun," said Mr. Thanh.
