On March 4, Hai Ha District Police (Quang Ninh) said they were expanding the case of two teenagers being set on fire by relatives, causing severe burns.
According to the investigation agency, at around 10:00 p.m. on March 2, Mr. Phun A Nhi (38 years old, residing in Quang Son commune, Hai Ha district) came home from drinking and saw his son Phun Van Hoa (15 years old) and nephew Phun Van Dac (14 years old) dyeing their hair red, so Nhi cursed Hoa and Dac and then took a bottle of gasoline mixed with oil (used to run a lawn mower with about 100 ml left) and poured it on Dac and Hoa.
At the same time, Nhi lit a cigarette and threw the cigarette butt towards Dac and Hoa. The fire broke out on the two children. Seeing this, Nhi took a shirt and covered Dac to put out the fire. Afterwards, Dac and Hoa were taken to the Hai Ha District Medical Center for emergency treatment.
According to the assessment of Hai Ha District Medical Center, Hoa had many broken blisters covering 22% of the area, Dac had many broken blisters covering 20% of the area, diagnosed with first, second, and third degree burns.
