(Baonghean.vn) - Hot weather, with temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, has turned the lives of people in the highlands of Tuong Duong district upside down. To dispel the heat, hundreds of people rushed to buy life jackets to go to the upper Lam River to cool off.

According to the hydrometeorological agency, the temperature in the North Central region yesterday (May 18) was high, over 39 degrees Celsius. In particular, there were places such as Hoa Binh town, Xa Luong commune (Tuong Duong) where the measured temperature was over 40 degrees Celsius. In the scorching heat, many people in Hoa Binh town rushed to buy life jackets and go to the upper Lam river to cool off.
Many families have bought life jackets for their children to ensure safety when swimming in the river. "I bought life jackets for the whole family to swim in the river. Each jacket costs from 50,000 to 100,000 VND depending on the type" - a resident of Hoa Binh town said.
From around 5 pm onwards, a large number of people, both adults and children, gathered in the area along the river stretching from Hoa Tay block to Hoa Trung block of Hoa Binh town.
Gia Hung in Hoa Tay block shared: "I go to the river to both bathe and exercise."
Even though she is busy with her business, because of the hot weather, every afternoon Ms. Xuan has to go to the river to bathe to relieve the stuffiness.

According to forecasts, today (May 19) will be the peak of the heat in Nghe An. It is forecasted that by tomorrow, the temperature will begin to drop. Therefore, rivers and streams will still be ideal destinations for many people in the "fire pan" to dispel the heat. However, people should also swim in safe places, away from deep water. Children swimming must be accompanied by adults to prevent drowning accidents.
