Woman spends a fortune on kidney transplant for 17-year-old cat
Even though the cat was old, the owner still spent 19,000 USD on a kidney transplant in the hope of being able to live with the cat a little longer.
A 17-year-old cat named Stanley recently suffered from kidney disease and was diagnosed by a veterinarian as near death. However, its owner, Betsy Boyd, did not accept this result and decided to spend 19,000 USD (more than 430 million VND) for Stanley's kidney transplant.

According toPeople MagazineBetsy Boyd, a Baltimore, Maryland, US, earns only $46,000 a year as a part-time teacher, and her husband, Michael, is a freelance journalist who works from home while also taking care of their 3-year-old twins.
Although they were not rich, when they heard about the opportunity to save their pet cat, they did not hesitate to spend a large amount of money just to be able to live with Stanley a little longer."Stanley loves me so much in a human way and I love him that way too, I want him by my side," Betsy shared onPeople Magazine.
"I love all my cats, but Stanley is the only one who has a human soul in a cat's body. He is very communicative. He can maintain eye contact better than any cat I have ever known. When I go to work, he waits by the window or in front of the house for me to return, like a loyal puppy," Betsy added.
Stanley only suffered kidney failure but was still walking and active. |
Betsy initially faced opposition from family and friends when she decided to spend a large sum of money on an old cat like Stanley. They advised her to use the money to send the twins to college. But Betsy considered Stanley as a member of the family, so she decided to use the money she had saved for a new car to save Stanley's life.
After finding a suitable donor kidney, Stanley underwent the transplant at Ryan Veterinary Hospital in Philadelphia. The animal is recovering from the surgery. "I hope he lives to be 25," Betsy said.
