The lives of parishioners in hamlet 9, Quynh Thanh commune mainly depend on agricultural production, but the rice growing area is in the highlands, so drought often occurs, rice productivity is low, which has significantly affected people's lives.

Faced with that reality, as the village chief, Mr. Bac always wondered and thought about what to do to improve the living standards of the households. After learning about new varieties of plants and animals and market needs, he pioneered the conversion of 1 sao of ineffective rice land to grow watermelon and cantaloupe. Thanks to good care and proper technical processes, the melons grew well, with high productivity and quality, and were favored by the market.

Mr. Bui Bac lives in hamlet 9, Quynh Thanh Catholic commune (Quynh Luu).

From the effectiveness of his family's model, Mr. Bac has promoted and mobilized households to convert 3 hectares of rice to produce vegetables such as cabbage, kohlrabi, tomatoes, sweet cabbage, melon...; coordinated with relevant agencies, departments and branches to organize training courses to transfer scientific and technical advances in vegetable growing, which received the support of the people. With 4 vegetable crops per year, many households have had an income of 10 million VND/sao, much higher than growing rice.

With Mr. Bac's enthusiasm and dedication, the people of Hamlet 9 are not only active in production but also actively open up service industries, animal husbandry... Thanks to that, life is getting better and better, the poverty rate of the hamlet has decreased significantly. If in 2005 the whole hamlet had 75 poor households, now there are only 30 households out of 186 households.

In the program of building new rural areas, Mr. Bac actively propagated to the people to understand the benefits of building new rural areas, so the parishioners voluntarily contributed money, donated land, and labor to widen village roads and alleys, contributing to the completion of the commune's new rural construction targets.

Along with that, Mr. Bac regularly organizes cultural, artistic, and sports activities to create a useful playground and improve people's health. In addition, he actively propagates people to strictly comply with the Party's policies and guidelines, the State's laws and policies, and fully contribute to local taxes and funds.

He always worries and finds solutions to increase the income of the people. Thanks to that, the average income of the people of village 9 is currently 20 million VND/year."
