A life of tireless struggle for the revolutionary cause of the nation, the heroic sacrifice of Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and other revolutionary soldiers will always shine for future generations.

Nguyen Thi Minh Khai's real name is Nguyen Thi Vinh, born on November 1, 1910, in Vinh Yen commune, Vinh city - Nghe An. Nguyen Thi Minh Khai studied national language since childhood. After finishing second grade, she transferred to first grade at Cao Xuan Duc school. Studying with teacher Tran Phu (who later became the first General Secretary of the Indochinese Communist Party), witnessing the misery of her homeland and being enlightened by teacher Tran Phu himself, at the age of 16, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai embarked on the revolutionary path.

In 1927, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai joined the Tan Viet Party. During this time, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai actively participated in struggles in her homeland, mobilizing women to participate in strikes, demonstrations demanding amnesty for Phan Boi Chau, and mourning Phan Chu Trinh.

In early 1929, with the organization's consent, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai secretly left her family to join the revolution. After the Indochinese Communist Party was founded, she was admitted to the Party and assigned to be in charge of propaganda work, mobilizing women, training Party members in the Truong Thi and Ben Thuy areas, and organizing the Women's Liberation Association. She organized many training courses, training cadres for the Party, who were the core force in the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement.

At the end of 1930, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai was sent by the organization to Hong Kong (China) to work at the Eastern Bureau of the Communist International. Being directly educated by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc (Ly Thuy) in political theory and revolutionary experience, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai progressed very quickly. After that, she was assigned the task of liaising with Vietnamese revolutionary organizations in the country. While working, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai also took the opportunity to learn English, French and Chinese fluently.

In 1931-1934, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai was arrested by British secret agents in Hong Kong and then transferred to the Guangzhou government for imprisonment. Despite being brutally tortured, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai remained loyal to the revolution. Later, thanks to the efforts of the Communist International, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai was released. After being released from prison, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai was sent to Shanghai, worked in the Party's overseas leadership and studied at the Oriental University.

At the end of 1934, Minh Khai, along with Le Hong Phong and Hoang Van Non, were official delegates sent to attend the 7th International Communist Congress in Moscow. Nguyen Thi Minh Khai used the pseudonym Phan Lan. On August 16, 1935, for the first time on the forum of an international congress, the 24-year-old Vietnamese woman loudly read a speech on the role of Indochinese women in the struggle against imperialist war and in protecting peace. After the Congress, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai continued to study at the Oriental University. During these years, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai fell in love and married Le Hong Phong - a revolutionary soldier.

In early 1936, Le Hong Phong was sent back to the country to work, while Nguyen Thi Minh Khai stayed to study for another year. After graduating from university, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai was assigned to work in Shanghai (China) and was assigned to work in Saigon (1937). Returning to the country, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai was elected to the Southern Regional Party Committee, in charge of the Secretary of the Saigon - Cho Lon City Party Committee. At that time, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai was 29 years old.

Receiving a new mission, operating in extremely difficult secret conditions, she and her comrades still stuck close to the base, leading the movement to develop strongly. While Nguyen Thi Minh Khai was actively working, she received news that Le Hong Phong was arrested. Although she loved her husband very much, to ensure secrecy, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai could not visit him but only asked someone to bring gifts. At this time, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai was pregnant. In the spring of 1939, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai gave birth to her first daughter, named Hong Minh. She only had time to stay with her child for a month, then she sent her child back to the revolutionary base to raise and continued her activities.

On September 1, 1939, World War II broke out. The Southern Regional Party Committee assessed the situation and advocated an uprising. French secret agents discovered it and tried to terrorize and suppress the revolutionary movement. Most of the Party's key officials in the Southern region fell into the enemy's hands, such as Nguyen Van Cu, Le Hong Phong, Vo Van Tan, Nguyen Huu Tien, etc.

On July 30, 1940, after attending a meeting of the Regional Party Committee to discuss the uprising policy, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai was arrested by the French. They took her to Saigon Central Prison and tortured her brutally. In prison, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai continued to mobilize women to fight. After the torture, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai used blood to write on the cell wall, but the verses exalted the qualities and integrity of a communist soldier: Even if beaten, even if hung, the more determined; Even if pinned, even if clamped, the word will not be changed; Sacrifice and strive for the mission, practice thoroughly until death...

When the French knew that she was Le Hong Phong's wife, they imprisoned him together, but both revolutionaries, although they had not seen each other for a long time, still suppressed their private feelings to deal with the enemy's evil plot. Once, they brought Le Hong Phong in for Nguyen Thi Minh Khai to identify him, but Nguyen Thi Minh Khai answered them: I do not know this person.

Although imprisoned, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, as Secretary of the Saigon - Cho Lon City Party Committee and member of the Southern Regional Party Committee, still found ways to contact the outside world and continued to lead the Southern Uprising. On November 23, 1940, the Southern Uprising broke out.

The Southern Uprising was suppressed, and the colonial court sentenced Nguyen Thi Minh Khai to death. Unable to subdue the young communist soldier, on the morning of August 28, 1941, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and a number of her comrades were executed by the enemy in Hoc Mon.

Before her death, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai had time to do three things: One was to say goodbye to her beloved husband who was exiled in Con Dao; two was to say thank you to the comrades who were raising Hong Minh; three was to strip off her prison clothes, knit a pillowcase and send it to her mother as a little filial piety to her mother who had not fulfilled her duty of taking care of her when she was old and weak.

Nguyen Thi Minh Khai fell at the age of 31. Before going to the execution ground, she told her compatriots and comrades:

Be steadfast and courageous, everyone!

Patience is the key to talent

Times push the soldier

The revolutionary road is still thorny.

A life of tireless struggle for the revolutionary cause of the nation, for the cause of women's liberation, the heroic sacrifice of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and the revolutionary soldiers always shines brightly for our women to learn. Her name and noble revolutionary cause are forever engraved for future generations with the names of streets, schools and even scholarships named after Nguyen Thi Minh Khai to help poor students who study well and overcome difficulties. The name of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai will live forever with the Vietnamese people.
