(Baonghean.vn) - On May 16, Japan and the United States agreed to put pressure on North Korea, along with the international community including China and Russia, after Pyongyang conducted its latest ballistic missile launch last weekend.

Mr. Kishida also said that this view was agreed by his US counterpart Rex Tillerson in a phone call this morning. This is the first phone call between the two foreign ministers of Japan and the US after Pyongyang successfully tested a medium-range ballistic missile on May 14.
“Dialogue is meaningless. What is important now is to put pressure on North Korea,” Japan’s top diplomat said.

According to Foreign Minister Kishida, he and his counterpart Tillerson also agreed to closely coordinate with the new administration of South Korean President Moon Jae In to resolve the North Korean issue.
Tokyo and Washington will call on China, an important economic partner of Pyongyang, and Russia, a member of the UN Security Council, to play a role in putting pressure on North Korea to end its ambitions to pursue its missile and nuclear programs./.
