Many trees in the median strip of National Highway 1A were cut down.

(Baonghean.vn) - Hundreds of cherry blossom trees planted in the median strip of National Highway 1A through Dien Chau district were cut down to the roots by many people.

After upgrading and repairing National Highway 1A, the authorities planted thousands of cherry trees along the median strip of the two lanes of National Highway 1A, with the effect of preventing glare from oncoming headlights and reducing dust and pollution from vehicles.

However, recently, many people along both sides of National Highway 1A through Dien Chau district have tried to destroy and cut down the cherry trees. The main focus is on the road running through densely populated areas in Dien An and Dien Thinh communes.

The people cut down trees in the middle of the national highway median, for the purpose of making it easier for people to cross the two sides of the road. Accordingly, hundreds of cherry trees were cut down by people, leaving only stumps. Since October 2016, the cutting down of trees in the middle of the median has become more and more common. Up to now, kilometers of trees have been cut down by people.

Mr. Nguyen Bao Giang - Deputy Head of the Road Management Department II.2 said: In 2016, facing the situation of people arbitrarily cutting down trees, the Department sent documents to Dien Chau District Police and Dien Chau District People's Committee, requesting localities with National Highways passing through to strengthen propaganda work so that people understand and do not cut down trees, but the results were not positive.

Currently, the Department has reviewed and grasped the locations where people have cut down trees, and continues to send an official dispatch to Dien Chau district police to search for those who cut down trees because these trees are also state property.However, the problem of prevention is also difficult for the unit because people often cut at night.
