Many officials removed from the list of recognized professors

On March 6, the State Council for Professor Titles announced the list of 1,131 people recognized as meeting the standards of professors and associate professors (GS, PGS) in 2017 according to the decision signed by the Council Chairman - Minister Phung Xuan Nha.

Of these, there are 74 new professors and 1,057 new associate professors, a decrease of 95 people compared to the list of qualified professors and associate professors announced by the State Council for Professor Titles in early February 2018.

Notably, the list no longer includes the names of many management officials such as candidate Professor Nguyen Thi Kim Tien - Minister of Health, candidate Professor Le Quan - Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, candidate Associate Professor Truong Xuan Cu - Deputy Head of the Northwest Steering Committee, candidate Associate Professor Ha Anh Duc - Secretary of the Minister of Health, candidate Associate Professor Nguyen Hung Long - Deputy Director of the Department of Food Safety (Ministry of Health), candidate Associate Professor Le Quang Minh - Director of the Ha Nam Department of Health, candidate Associate Professor Trinh Thanh Hung - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of the Technical Economic Sectors of the Ministry of Science and Technology...

This is the result obtained after reviewing all 1,226 previously announced professor and associate professor profiles.

Thus, there are still 95 candidates previously announced to meet the standards for the title of professor and associate professor who must wait for the next review results.

Of the 95 dossiers that did not fully meet the prescribed standards, needed further verification or had complaints or denunciations, the State Council for Professor Titles sent an official dispatch requesting universities and relevant agencies to provide specific documents and evidence.

The State Council for Professor Titles has also assigned the Working Group to work directly with relevant agencies for further verification.

Previously, the Government Standing Committee agreed to request Minister of Education and Training - Chairman of the State Council for Professor Titles Phung Xuan Nha and the Council of Titles to "seriously draw profound lessons" because there were still many candidate profiles that did not fully meet the standards and needed further verification in the recent review.

The Minister of Education and Training is responsible to the Prime Minister for this recognition and review.

According to regulations, the State Council for Professor Titles only considers and recognizes the standards for Professors and Associate Professors, while the appointment of Professors and Associate Professors is carried out by higher education institutions.

Schools with high requirements and many lecturers with the titles of Professor and Associate Professor can choose those with higher teaching and scientific research achievements for appointment.
