Many schools in Nghe An will enroll 6th graders using an aptitude test.
(Baonghean.vn) - This is one of the contents just issued by the Department of Education and Training today regarding enrollment for the first grade classes of the 2018-2019 school year.
Notably, starting from this school year, implementing Circular No. 05/2018/TT-BGDDT on amending and supplementing Circular No. 11 (referred to as the Admission Regulations), the admission work for grade 6 at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year has many adjustments with two main admission methods.
Specifically, for secondary schools with the number of students applying for admission not exceeding the enrollment quota, the admission method will be implemented, accepting students who have completed the primary school program to study in grade 6 of secondary school.
For secondary schools with a number of students applying for admission greater than the enrollment quota, the enrollment plan will be implemented by the selection method or a combination of selection and testing and assessment of student capacity.
Thus, with this form, many schools in Nghe An (focusing mainly on key, high-quality schools) this year will switch from the form of admission to conducting competency assessment tests.

Students who are granted a General Vocational Certificate in the exam organized by the Department of Education and Training at the secondary school level will receive 1.5 points (excellent), 1 point (fair) and 0.5 points (average).
In addition, the Department of Education and Training has a direct admission policy for students who are subject to the regulations on admission. That is, students of ethnic boarding schools; Students from very small ethnic groups including: O Du, Pu Peo, Si La, Ro Mam, Cong, Brau, Bo Y, Mang, Co Lao; Students with disabilities who have completed the secondary school program;
In particular, direct admission for students who have won national and international awards in culture; arts; sports; National science and technology competitions for middle school and high school students.
Qualified students will be admitted directly to high schools in the district, city or town where they studied junior high school.
Responding further to the admission to grade 6, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Head of Secondary Education Department - Department of Education and Training said: Based on the direction of the Department, the Departments of Education and Training will develop separate admission plans for schools with the number of applications exceeding the allowed quota and submit them to the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns for approval.
However, the Department's view is that the test to assess capacity must not exceed the Ministry's prescribed program, not put pressure on students, and ensure the assessment of students' ability to apply knowledge acquired during the learning process to solve specific problems. In the admission process, priority is given to students who are in the general education category.
Previously, in order to limit the situation of extra teaching and learning, in 2015, the Ministry of Education and Training did not allow high-quality schools to organize entrance exams but replaced them with a form of admission.
