Drug trafficking 'bosses' arrested

The drug crime situation is becoming more complicated in some localities across the country. Participating in large drug trafficking lines are many female subjects who operate in a very sophisticated and cunning manner, no less than male subjects.

Most recently, on the night of August 30 and early morning of August 31, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Hai Duong Province Police cracked down on a case to arrest a subject who specialized in transporting synthetic drugs and selling them to addicts operating at restaurants, hotels, bars, and karaoke businesses in Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, and several neighboring provinces, seizing a large amount of synthetic drugs in tablet form.

The subject arrested in the case is Tran Thi Kim Thu, 36 years old, residing in Dong Da district, Hanoi. Thu was arrested in Ngoc Lau village, Cam Hoang commune, Cam Giang district, Hai Duong while transporting drugs from Hai Phong to Hanoi for sale. Checking the vehicle, the police seized 6 plastic bags containing synthetic drug tablets, a total of 6,000 tablets.

Subject Tran Thi Kim Thu, confessed: After going from Hanoi to Bac Ninh to meet an acquaintance, Thu took a taxi to Hai Phong then called someone there to bring the "goods" to the meeting point... After receiving the goods, Thu returned to Hanoi. On the way back to Cam Giang area, Hai Duong, she was arrested by the police... Thu bought the above drugs for 900 million VND.

Thu is a notorious gangster in Hanoi, has complicated relationships with criminals and drug addicts in Hanoi and some neighboring provinces, and is a drug addict himself for many years. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Hao, Deputy Head of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Hai Duong Provincial Police, said: Thu has a criminal record for illegal drug trafficking. In Hanoi, he regularly transports and illegally trades synthetic drugs to addicts in the area and some neighboring provinces such as Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, etc.

Having a criminal record for illegal drug trafficking, combined with his familiarity with the area and routes, the subject was very sophisticated and cunning in transporting drugs, always carrying many mobile phones to communicate and exchange with "partners" on the transport routes. When there were signs of insecurity, or suspicion that the subject changed vehicles or routes, it caused many difficulties for the forces participating in the arrest. However, through professional measures, the members of the project were able to closely follow all movements of the subject, helping to ensure the arrest was safe and secure.

Previously, on August 22, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department also coordinated with Binh Giang District Police to arrest Tran Thi Nguyet, born in 1962, in Trang Liet Commune, Binh Giang District, when she was transporting 1 heroin cake from Bac Ninh to Binh Giang District for sale. To avoid detection by the authorities, during the transportation, Nguyet hid the drugs in a bag of rice.

In the locality, Nguyet is also one of the subjects with a complicated background, having participated with her husband many times in transporting and trafficking drugs to addicts in the area, which made the people in the district extremely indignant. Just a few days after her husband was arrested for being involved in drug trafficking, Nguyet was also arrested.

The timely arrest of subjects like Nguyet and Thu has cut off important links in drug transportation and consumption lines in the areas, contributing to stabilizing local security and order.
