Tiger players make many impressions for Song Lam Nghe An

1. Writer Thuy

Topping this list is none other than the second son of the late famous player Van Sy Chi, former striker of The Cong andVietnam teamVan Sy Thuy. During his playing days, he was an excellent striker of Vietnamese football from the mid-90s of the last century to the early 2000s. Notably, Van Sy Thuy participated with the Vietnamese team in the Tiger Cup 2000 (the old name of the AFF Cup) and scored 1 goal.

In addition to the noble titles in the Song Lam Nghe An shirt (champion of the National Football Championship in 2000, champion of V.League 2001...), Van Sy Thuy also won the title of Top Scorer at the National Football Championship in 2000, with 14 goals. Currently, the player born in 1974 is working as a manager at the T&T-VSH Youth Football Training Center, a branch of the Hanoi Club located in Cua Lo town.

2. Nguyen Phi Hung

Similar to his former teammate at Song Lam Nghe An, Hung "Duc Tho" is also a famous player of Vietnamese football. With his fiery and intelligent playing style, Nguyen Phi Hung soon became a mainstay of the team.Lam River Nghe An, under former coach Nguyen Thanh Vinh. Before joining Hoang Anh Gia Lai of Mr. Duc (2002), Hung "Casua" had won many noble titles such as the National Football Championship in 2000 or V.League 2001. With his talent, Nguyen Phi Hung was called up to the Vietnam National Team many times to participate in the SEA Games and Tiger Cup. However, the mark that Nguyen Phi Hung left in the Vietnam National Team's shirt was quite faint.

3. Le Van Luu

Playing as a sweeper in the 5-3-2 formation, the player born in 1974 has always proven his class. Although he does not possess an ideal physique, in return, Le Van Luu has the ability to make accurate judgments to cover for his teammates playing right above. It can be said that Le Van Luu is a type of player who plays with his mind, different from the playing style of most of his teammates at Song Lam Nghe An at that time.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that Le Van Luu was one of the two best defenders in Vietnamese football from the mid-90s to the early 2000s, alongside Do Khai of Hai Quan (a now disbanded team). Unfortunately, Le Van Luu was not lucky enough to play for the Vietnamese national team. The only time Le Van Luu was called up to the Vietnamese national team was in May 2002.

4. Le Thanh Long

Although not as famous as his three teammates Van Sy Thuy, Nguyen Phi Hung and Le Van Luu, the importance of the player nicknamed Long "gio" to Song Lam Nghe An is not small. Taking on the right-back position, Le Thanh Long, together with Le Van Luu and Nguyen Huu Thang, formed the once-notorious trio of defenders of the Nghe An team.

At the end of the 2003 season, after winning a series of prestigious titles in the Song Lam Nghe An shirt (the National Football Championship in 2000, the V.League Championship in 2001...), Le Thanh Long decided to join Hoang Anh Gia Lai at the call of Mr. Duc. At Pleiku Stadium, Le Thanh Long won the V.League Championship in 2004.
