Automotive experts have pointed out objects that users should not leave in cars in hot weather to avoid unwanted damage.

In hot weather, the temperature inside a car can rise very quickly, especially when the car is parked in direct sunlight. This not only causes discomfort to the user but can also lead to potential risks for the items left in the car. Below are items that you should not leave in the car when the outside temperature rises.

Western medicine

Most people do not realize that Western medicines have specific storage temperatures. According to experts, non-prescription medicines, widely sold in pharmacies, usually have a maximum storage temperature of about 25 degrees Celsius.

According to the US Center for Disease Control, if a car is parked in the sun with a temperature of about 26 degrees Celsius for an hour, the temperature inside the car can reach over 50 degrees Celsius. Most car users often leave western medicine and antibiotics in the storage compartment or under the armrest and at this temperature, the medicine will lose its effectiveness.

Therefore, we should carefully check whether the commonly used drugs can withstand high temperatures or not, and the simplest way is to ask the pharmacist or doctor who prescribed the drug. Moreover, if you are using a specific drug, you need to check the storage temperature of the drug more carefully and avoid leaving the drug inside the car.

Bottled water

Car users often have the habit of leaving bottled water in the car to use when needed. Although dehydration in hot weather is a health disaster, causing drivers to lose concentration and become sleepy, leaving bottled water in the car, under the sun is not necessarily good.

According to experts, if you use plastic bottled water that is disposable, it is best to carry it with you every time you leave the car.

The reason for this is that the high temperature inside the car will cause the water in the bottle to warm up, making it uncomfortable to drink. In addition, the high temperature also causes the chemicals inside the plastic, especially the compound polyethylene terephthalate (PET), to mix into the water. Although the health effects of the above compound when mixed into water are not clear, they can change the taste and color of the water.

Leave sunscreen in the car

Most people sitting in the front seats are often exposed to the sun shining directly on the windshield, affecting their skin. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare sunscreen when driving.

However, you should not leave sunscreen in the car for too long under extreme temperatures. Similar to Western medicine, sunscreen will lose its effectiveness when stored under high temperatures. Furthermore, leaving it under high temperatures can build up pressure in the tube, causing it to explode, making cleaning up this "mess" extremely difficult.

If you accidentally leave sunscreen in hot, sunny places in your car, you should throw away the tube and not continue using it.
