Friendly classes at Vinh University
(Baonghean.vn) - Every weekday at 8:00 p.m., volunteers from the Faculty of Literature and Pedagogy, Vinh University, are present at the dormitory to help Laotian students learn Vietnamese.
This school year, Vinh University has nearly 300 Laotian international students enrolled. Unfamiliar with the unfamiliar language and writing environment, these international students face many difficulties in the integration process. Faced with this reality, a student volunteer team to support Laotian students in learning Vietnamese was established, led by Dr. Le Thi Sao Chi - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Literature and Pedagogy, Vinh University.
After more than 4 months of operation, the volunteer student team now has more than 50 members, mainly students majoring in journalism and literature pedagogy. The teaching schedule is arranged and arranged to suit each person's study schedule. What is special is that the students who participate in teaching are all voluntary and completely free of charge.

To make teaching effective, the volunteer team has a specific schedule. Each class has 1 to 2 instructors to guide and tutor 1 to 4 Lao students for about 2 hours. Each lesson aims to help Lao students review knowledge in class, teach Vietnamese, help students communicate better, and make studying and living more convenient.
In addition to teaching in the dormitory, the volunteer team also attends classroom teaching sessions as teaching assistants for teachers in the school, both to gain teaching experience and to support and help Laotian international students.
Le Thi Quynh Anh - volunteer team leader said: "At first, when participating in teaching, the volunteers encountered many difficulties. The biggest barrier was the language barrier, so each member of the team had to learn Lao, and even had to use body language such as gestures and actions to express their thoughts."
In addition to supporting Vietnamese speaking and writing skills, Vietnamese and Lao students also participate in exciting cultural and artistic activities. This helps students from both countries have the opportunity to exchange, learn about customs, traditions, cultural identities, and strengthen friendship.

Pepxy, a student studying in Laos, shared: “Vietnamese students are very enthusiastic and open when supporting us with Vietnamese. Whenever we write or read incorrectly or do not understand, they always give us enthusiastic guidance. In addition to studying, we also confide and learn life skills.”
With many meaningful and effective activities, volunteer students of Vinh University are contributing to making the relationship between Vietnam and Laos more and more loyal and steadfast. For each Lao student, the warm lecture hall in Nghe An has long been a second home./.
