Choose Tet flowers

Choosing flowers carefully is one of the important steps to keep flowers fresh for a long time. You should carefully look at the cut part of the flower stem, if the old cut is dark, the flower has been cut for a long time, you should not choose. If you buy a whole bunch, you need to remove the wilted flowers from the bunch to avoid affecting the remaining flowers.

Note, for gladiolus, chrysanthemums, lilies you should buy fresh flowers with the original roots intact, if the flowers have been put in ice water or refrigerated, you should not buy them, because they will not bloom or will not bloom beautifully. In addition, you should choose flowers with intact outer petals, when touching the petals are hard and fresh.

Prepare flower vase

Before placing flowers or changing the water, you should wash the vase thoroughly, especially scrub the inside of the vase thoroughly to remove any slime or soap because chemicals can change the PH level in the water, causing the flowers to wilt quickly. Sugar: 2 tablespoons of sugar or 1/4 can of carbonated soft drink in the water helps increase photosynthesis, helping flowers stay fresh longer.

Vitamin B1: You can also crush a vitamin B1 tablet (for 1 liter of water) and put it in the vase. Sugar and B1 help the flowers absorb water and retain water in the stem for a long time, thereby keeping the flowers fresh longer. However, this method is only clearly effective for flowers with hard stems such as roses, chrysanthemums, and hydrangeas.

Apple cider vinegar, lemon or aspirin: Mix 2 tablespoons of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar into 1 liter of water to increase the acidity of the water. Using a few aspirin tablets dissolved in the water also has a similar effect.

Listerine mouthwash: Use flower water mixed with Listerine at a ratio of 15g/1 liter of water. This solution will help kill bacteria in the water, making the flowers last longer.

Keep flowers blooming as desired

If you want your flowers to bloom on Tet holiday, you just need to soak them in warm water for a few minutes if they are too young, and if they are wilted, soaking them in cold water for a few hours will help them stay fresh again. In addition, if you want to keep the flowers in their original shape, not blooming and losing petals, you can use hairspray, hold the spray bottle about 30cm away from the flowers and spray upwards.

Notes on caring for each type of flower

Rose:Do not cut rose thorns because cutting thorns will affect the flowers, causing them to quickly deteriorate. Vitamin B1 is very effective in keeping rose petals from fading and preventing them from falling off.

Lily:If you want lilies to stay fresh longer, you should cut the base of the flower stem diagonally and put a little sugar in the vase.

Peach blossom, wallflower:You should heat the cut over a fire before placing it in a vase to retain the flower's sap, helping the flower last longer.

Chrysanthemum:Regularly change the water and cut off damaged flower stems. Adding a little nitrogen fertilizer or urea to the vase will help your chrysanthemums stay fresh longer.

Orchid:Covering flowers with a damp cloth during the day will help them stay fresh longer.

Carnation:You should arrange flowers on the water surface, be careful not to let the flowers float on the water surface or sink in water because carnations are light.

Lilies:Before arranging, you should soak the whole lily branch in a large bucket of water for about 5 minutes, then arrange it. Note, remove the leaves at the base of the flower and arrange it in a lot of water to help the flower absorb water best.

Orchid:Because this type of orchid does not like humidity and light, you should display the flower in a place with lots of light but avoid direct sunlight. Do not let the flower get too wet.
