Car models expected to launch in June in Vietnam

Since the beginning of the year, the domestic auto market has welcomed a series of new cars, ranging from luxury cars like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class to popular cars like the Suzuki XL7. Not stopping there, many other models with upgraded versions are about to be launched.

Below are four car models expected to be launched on the market this month.

Mitsubishi Xpander 2022

Although it is a mid-life upgrade version (facelift), Mitsubishi Xpander 2022 received quite a few upgrades in equipment. According to sources ofZingMitsubishi Vietnam will introduce the new version of Xpander this week.

Mitsubishi Xpander 2022 does not have many changes in exterior design, the car only has changed front and rear LED light graphics, new wheels... The interior has an additional electronic handbrake, 8-inch entertainment screen connecting Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, new steering wheel design...

It is likely that the Xpander that is about to go on sale will be equipped with a CVT automatic transmission instead of the 4-speed automatic transmission currently available on the Xpander. The engine block remains the same 1.5L MIVEC type, producing 104 horsepower and maximum torque of 141 Nm.

Up to now, Mitsubishi Xpander is still the popular MPV model with the best sales in the market. In April, VAMA data shows that Mitsubishi delivered 1,652 Xpanders to customers. Toyota's two new MPV models, Veloz Cross and Avanza Premio, are also showing their appeal with total sales reaching 1,336 units in April.

Kia Sportage

At the car launch event in October 2021, Thaco confirmed that it will launch the new generation Kia Sportage this year. Currently, sales consultants have accepted deposits for this SUV model.

An employee of a Kia dealer in Hanoi said that the new Sportage has 3 versions: Luxury, Premium and Hybrid. The starting price for the 2022 Sportage is expected to be 720 million VND for the Luxury version, the Premium version is priced at 820 million VND, and the Hybrid version has the highest price of 910 million VND.

Previously, Kia Sportage was officially sold from 2010 to 2016. However, sales were not as expected, causing Thaco to remove this SUV model from its product catalog.

In this comeback, Kia Sportage 2022 will compete with names like Hyundai Tucson (from 825 million to 1.02 billion VND), Mazda CX-5 (from 839 million to 1.059 billion VND) or Peugeot 3008 (1.009-1.109 billion VND).

Nissan Almera 2022

After nearly a year on the market, the new version of Almera has been brought to dealers to prepare for sale. Almera was first introduced by Nissan Vietnam at the end of July 2021. The previous generation of this sedan was sold in Vietnam under the name Nissan Sunny.

According to available information, the 2022 Almera will likely no longer have the MT version, there will only be 2 versions: CVT and Premium CVT. The car will continue to be imported from the Thai market.

Nissan Almera 2022 receives upgrades such as leather seats, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, automatic mirror folding, full-frame rearview mirror... The engine is still a 1.0L turbocharged type (98.6 horsepower, 152 Nm).

Since its launch, Nissan Almera has not really made its mark on the market despite its advantages in equipment and safety technology. Nissan has not announced the sales of Almera, but it is certainly lower than competitors such as Toyota Vios, Hyundai Accent or Honda City.

Honda HR-V 2022

At the end of May, images of the new version of Honda HR-V appeared in Vietnam, it is likely that the Japanese car company will soon open sales of this SUV model. Previously, many Honda dealers nationwide have accepted deposits for HR-V 2022.

Compared to the current generation, the new HR-V has been upgraded in many aspects, from design to equipment and technology. Detailed specifications related to the technology as well as equipment on the HR-V 2022, which will be on sale in Vietnam, have not yet been revealed.

It is not impossible that Honda Vietnam will install a hybrid engine for the HR-V 2022 similar to the Thai market. This hybrid engine block includes a 1.5L gasoline engine and 2 electric motors, power is transmitted to the wheels through an e-CVT gearbox.

Honda HR-V currently has significantly lower sales than rival SUVs such as Toyota Corolla Cross, Kia Seltos or Kia Sonet. In the first 4 months of the year, the total number of Honda HR-V cars sold on the market was 1,168 units.
