Climate change is taking place in a complex manner, with sudden floods often causing great damage to people and property. In cities, many cars are flooded on the streets or in parking lots when the floods come. These shortcomings have sparked in two students, Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang and Nguyen Duc Do, students of Dien Hai Secondary School, Dien Chau District, the determination to carry out the idea of rescuing cars when they are flooded.

The structure of this model includes many parts such as: car model, mini air pump, life buoy, propeller, air buoy release valve, positioning bar, buoy holder... with a cost of about 2 million VND.

The operating principle is quite simple, the car owner will install a system of inflatable floats for the car, spread evenly and neatly arranged under the car. The float is attached to a mini air pump using 12V electricity, taking power directly from the car battery to inflate the float, when there is a flood, it will inflate to float the car and the people inside.

This unique model won 3rd prize in the "Provincial Science and Technology Competition for High School Students 2017 - 2018".

Wave Power Generation Model

Hai học sinh Lê Thị Thu Hương, Nguyễn Minh Lanh và thầy giáo hướng dẫn bên mô hình phát điện sử dụng sóng biển.
Two students Le Thi Thu Huong, Nguyen Minh Lanh and their instructor next to a model of power generation using ocean waves.

Born and raised in coastal areas, often exposed to fishing trips, seeing the high cost of fuel for trips while the price of raw materials is increasing has urged Le Thi Thu Huong, 16 years old, in Dien Hai commune, Dien Chau district (Nghe An), to realize the idea of making a generator from ocean waves with her close friend Nguyen Minh Lanh.

The structure of the model is quite simple, consisting of two force generating rods, two flywheels taken from children's wheels and a piece of foam to act as a buoy. When the waves hit the foam, it will rotate the force generating rods and flywheels, then pull the generator to rotate.

This model has a very high potential for practical application, because it is not only compact and easy to carry on the boat, but also has a very low production cost. This model won the first prize in the Youth Innovation Contest in Dien Chau district. Mr. Tran Quoc Thanh - Director of Nghe An Department of Science and Technology highly appreciated this idea and always encouraged students to explore and learn to have many inventions to apply in real life.

Anti-drowning backpack

Sản phẩm giành giải Nhất cuộc thi KHKT học sinh trung học cấp tỉnh do Sở GD&ĐT Nghệ An tổ chức tháng 12/2017.
The product of Lo Thi May Sao and Kha Thi Nhat Linh won first prize in the provincial science and technology competition for high school students organized by the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An in December 2017.

The product of two Thai ethnic female students - Lo Thi May Sao and Kha Thi Nhat Linh of Huong Tien Secondary School (Thanh Chuong District) won first prize in the provincial science and technology competition for high school students organized by the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An in December 2017.

The two students' invention was designed with two main functions: rescue and alarm. On the other hand, for students, they always carry backpacks to school, so it is very convenient. The two students used old bicycle inner tubes to make life buoys and positioning devices, sensor switches... to make alarm devices.

When the backpacker falls into the water, the switch automatically closes, the alarm sounds about 50m away, helping people around know to come to the rescue. At the same time, the buoy is a temporary drowning rescue solution while waiting for help from adults.

Through many tests in rivers and lakes, it has been shown that the backpack can lift a person weighing about 50kg to the surface of the water without any impact from the body.

Vi Duc Nhat's garbage collector

With the product “Remote-controlled trash collector on the lake”, Vi Duc Nhat, class 9A, Phu Tho Secondary School (Nghia Dan district), is the only ethnic minority student (Thai ethnic group) of Nghe An province to participate in the national science and technology competition for secondary school students in the Northern region held in Hai Phong in March 2017.

The Japanese-invented machine has a simple structure, consisting of a float and a winch powered by a battery with an electromagnetic sensor attached. With the automatic device, only one person standing on the shore can easily control the machine to anywhere on the water surface to replace humans in collecting waste. The machine can be widely used if the capacity, engine, float frame, etc. are increased.

With a new and unique idea, at the national science and technology competition for secondary school students in the Northern region held in Hai Phong in March 2017, Vi Duc Nhat's invention won the majority of votes from the National Science Council and won the third prize overall...

It is worth noting that after my remote-controlled trash collector was completed, I helped people clean up the rivers and streams where I live, which was recognized by the people and local authorities.

Automatic system to prevent water from entering the house

This highly practical invention is the product of two students from Phan Boi Chau High School, Nghe An, Nguyen Van Bao Kien and Dang Thai Hung, 12th graders. Winning First Prize in the Northern Region of the National Science and Technology Competition for High School Students in the 2016-2017 school year, this product was highly appreciated and gradually put into practice.

According to the two students, this invention comes from their passion for making engines and from their daily lives when they have to witness people suffering and struggling because of water flooding into their houses during rainy and flood days. This system uses rubber bands made from bicycle inner tubes to pump and release air to operate the glass to seal the gaps and will send messages to notify users of flooding in their houses.
