1. 3rd session, 14th Provincial People's Council

The 3rd session of the 17th Provincial People's Council took place fromDecember 14-16, 2016The meeting focused on assessing the implementation of the socio-economic development, national defense and security plan in 2016. The meeting also spent time discussing in groups and in the hall the goals, targets and solutions for socio-economic development, national defense and security in 2016; pressing and prominent social issues in social life that need to be addressed by all levels and sectors.

Within the framework of the session, the 16th Provincial People's Council carried out personnel work under the authority of the Provincial People's Council, which was to dismiss and elect additional members of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2016-2021 term. The Provincial People's Council also voted to pass 32 important Resolutions on socio-economics, national defense and security and the resolution issuance program and supervision program of the Nghe An Provincial People's Council in 2017.

2. Provincial leaders congratulate Xa Doai Diocese on Christmas 2016

Celebrating Christmas 2016, on the afternoon of December 17, a delegation of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee led by comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee came to present flowers and congratulate the Xa Doai Parish.

Comrade Le Xuan Dai presented a flower basket from the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee to priest Hoang Sy Huong on the occasion of Christmas 2016.

Presenting flowers and congratulating the Xa Doai Diocese and the parish priest of Xa Doai, Hoang Sy Huong, on behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Le Xuan Dai informed about some socio-economic, defense and security situations of the province in 2016. The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that to have those achievements, it is the great efforts of all levels, sectors, business community and people of all walks of life in the province, including the significant contribution of Catholic compatriots.

On behalf of the people in the diocese, Father Hoang Sy Huong thanked the provincial leaders for their attention and expressed his joy at the achievements the province had made in 2016; in the development of the country, Nghe An, the parishioners have also fully enjoyed those achievements.

3. Awarding the decision to appoint Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Board

On the afternoon of December 16, the Provincial Party Committee held a ceremony to announce and hand over the decision to appoint Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Committee to comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Quy Hop District Party Committee. According to Decision No. 838/QD-TU dated December 8, 2016, comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh was mobilized and assigned by the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee to stop participating in the Quy Hop District Party Committee Executive Committee, to work at the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Committee, holding the position of Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Committee from December 15, 2016.

4. International students and volunteers in Nghe An take a Vietnamese speaking test

On the afternoon of December 17, the Nghe An Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations organized the "Vietnamese Speaking Contest for International Students and Volunteers 2016" for the first time in Nghe An. The contest is a healthy and useful playground, attracting hundreds of international students and volunteers from different countries: Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, China, England, France and a large number of students, university students and youth of the city.

5. Nghe An: Newly registered businesses increased by nearly 40%

According to information from Nghe An Tax Department, the number of newly registered enterprises in the province from January 1, 2016 to November 30, 2016 was 1,797 enterprises, equal to 139% compared to the same period last year.

The average registered charter capital is about 3.7 billion VND/enterprise. Enterprises in Nghe An develop in a diverse manner, with the largest proportion in the fields of trade, services, construction; mining and processing industry. According to the tax authority, there are currently about 9,500 operating enterprises, accounting for 62% of the total number of registered enterprises. With the economic recovery, the number of enterprises registering for tax codes has decreased significantly compared to 2015. In the province, the cumulative number of enterprises registering for tax codes from January 1, 2016 to November 30, 2016 was 691, equal to 54% compared to the same period last year. The number of enterprises temporarily suspending or ceasing operations for a period of time as of December 6, 2016 was 426.

6. 40 kayakers explore Nghe An tea island

Looking down from the tea island, the boats gliding around the oasis create a peaceful scene.

On December 18, Nghe An Province coordinated with the Ha Long Kayak Sports Boat Club to organize the program 'Kayaking Nghe An Tea Island'. This event aims to promote the tourist destination 'Ha Long of Nghe An'.

During one session, nearly 40 members and 15 inflatable boats of Ha Long Kayak Club explored, took photos and interacted, introducing the charming scenery of Tea Island to domestic and international tourism forums.
