(Baonghean.vn) - Living in two different hometowns, with different jobs and lives, the families of Dinh Thi Mieng and Au Van Dinh have in common four generations living together (four generations under one roof). This traditional family model is no longer popular but is still maintained, preserved and has become the pride of the members of Mieng and Dinh's families.

Gathering joy

This year, the extended family of Mrs. Dinh Thi Mieng in Block 3, Tan Ky Town, Tan Ky District has much joy, happiness and pride. Firstly, Mrs. Mieng is 100 years old, not as healthy as many years ago but still clear-minded; secondly, Mrs. Mieng was awarded70 years Party badgeWith those two things, there are really not many people around us.

Mrs. Dinh Thi Mieng (born in 1922), from Nam Dan district, was a witness to the uprising to seize power under the leadership of the Party in August 1945. During the days when the revolutionary masses were fighting fiercely, Mrs. Mieng, still a young woman, joined the crowd marching to the district office to fight to bring power into the hands of the people.

Mrs. Dinh Thi Mieng and her husband have 6 children (4 girls, 2 boys), of which 5 are party members, serving in state agencies; currently they have 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild. The old man passed away in 2010. Currently, Mrs. Dinh Thi Mieng lives with her son and his wife, Mr. Nguyen Canh Thin (70 years old) and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thin in block 3, Tan Ky town. In the house, there are also the couple and two children of Mr. Nguyen Canh Binh, Mr. Thin's son. That means Mr. Thin's family has 4 generations living together under one roof, as the old saying goes, "four generations under one roof”.

Mr. Nguyen Canh Thin:“Four generations live under one roof, each generation has a different way of living and thinking, but our family is always peaceful and harmonious. This is because the members always put love and respect first, which is also the motto of behavior in the family.”

For the past few years, Mr. Mieng has not been able to walk on his own and has to use a wheelchair to move around. He has to rely on his children and grandchildren for all his daily activities. His children and grandchildren take turns taking care of him with all their love and care. Despite his advanced age, Mr. Mieng still cares for his children and grandchildren, often reminding them to go to work, meetings and school on time, without being late.

Seeing the great-grandchildren playing happily and gathering together, Mr. Mieng seems to be younger and healthier, trying to eat and drink to continue to live long, witnessing the maturity of the next generation.

To the community, Dinh Thi Mieng’s family is a model of harmony and filial piety. Family members are always respected by neighbors, colleagues and friends.
