Hen field in Hoa Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district used to grow rice, but now it has been converted to a specialized flower growing area. Mr. Phan Doan Loi in Hoa Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, is taking care of the flowers and shares: This land used to grow rice but it was not very effective. For the past 3 years, we have decided to convert all 3 sao of rice to grow chrysanthemums. According to Mr. Loi, this is a "popular" flower, suitable for farmers' budgets.
Flower growing is a very laborious job, you have to listen to the weather every day and take care of the flowers like a "baby". When the weather is cold, you have to increase the electricity to "promote" the growth of the plants, when the weather is sunny, you have to use measures to "slow down" them. The flowers must grow right on Tet holiday to sell them economically. Especially near Tet, if the price is good, each sao of fresh flowers can reach 5-7 million VND, 3-4 times higher than rice farming.

Since 2013, the entire Hoa Thanh commune had only one flower growing household, but now there are four flower growing households planned in Hen field with over 10 sao of flowers. Here, the water source flows naturally, and people have to invest their own capital to bring electricity to the field.
At the flower field of Dien Ky commune - Dien Chau at night, although it is windy and rainy, the cold is bitterly cold, the whole flower field is still lit by hundreds of bright, sparkling lights. The family of Mr. Nguyen Van An in hamlet 6 of Dien Ky commune, Dien Chau is still actively watering and fertilizing the flowers to add nutrients. Mr. An confided: The family grows 7 sao of flowers, equivalent to 3,500 m2, with 3 traditional types of chrysanthemums: yellow chrysanthemum, diamond chrysanthemum, large chrysanthemum.

This year we planted some more high-end flower areas such as gladiolus and phalaenopsis. The planting work was quite meticulous, during the day we had to hoe to loosen the soil and weed. At night, over 300 light bulbs had to operate continuously, sometimes we had to water extra, water fertilizer to fertilize, even rake the leaves to catch insects... Basically, all the flower areas are growing well and will be harvested right in time for Tet./.
