(Baonghean.vn) - In developing clean agricultural products, farmers in Nghi Loc district (Nghe An) have applied high technology to growing melons.
The melon production model of Mr. Dang Tho An in Hamlet 4, Nghi Truong Commune (Nghi Loc) is a typical example of applying high technology to production.
After receiving support from the district of 350 million VND, plus his family's own capital, Mr. An renovated the ground to build a modern greenhouse, growing Japanese Boon 146 melons.

With an area of 2,500 m2, Mr. An has planted nearly 5,000 melon trees. According to him, growing melons in a greenhouse is not too difficult, but to produce it, you need to be diligent and follow safe production processes. Everything from the greenhouse, plant varieties, fertilizers, to irrigation pipes are all done according to the correct process.
It is estimated that after nearly 3 months of production, after deducting all production costs, Mr. An's family earned a profit of over 100 million VND. "After harvesting this batch of melons, my family will produce a crop of seedless melons," said Mr. An.

According to quick statistics from Nghi Truong Commune People's Committee (Nghi Loc), the Japanese Boon 146 melon growing model of Mr. Dang Tho An's household has an estimated yield of 1.5 tons of fruit/sao. With the current selling price, growing one sao of melon, farmers earn approximately 70 million VND (many times higher than other crops).
"From the success of Mr. An's model, in the coming time, the locality will research and build a mechanism to support farmers in high-tech production to help farmers increase their income."
Currently, there are 3,600 m2 of net houses for growing melons in Nghi Long commune (Nghi Loc) with 6 members participating with an invested area of 3,000 m2.2(6 net houses x 500 m2). The model of Mr. Nguyen Tu My, Hamlet 13, Nghi Long is one of them. After nearly 3 months of planting and caring, the first melons were purchased by consumers at an average price of 60,000 VND/kg. It is estimated that with 500m2, Mr. My's family harvested 1.4 - 1.5 tons of fruit.
