She is passionate about literature and has long dreamed of becoming a literature teacher.

As the eldest of three sisters, with her father working as a mechanic and her mother as a factory worker, Như Quỳnh understood her parents' hardships and always strived for the best possible results from a young age. In the 2024 high school graduation exam, she excelled, achieving 29.4 points in the C00 subject group, including: 9.5 points in Literature, 10 points in History, and 10 points in Geography.

According to the runner-up, among all the subjects, she liked Literature the most, even though she didn't get the highest score. When she received this year's Literature exam paper, she spent about 5 minutes thinking and outlining before writing all 12 pages in one go. After finishing the last sentence, she only had a few minutes left to check her work.

Sharing her "secret" to achieving high scores in this exam, Quynh said that she set a goal of getting perfect scores in History and Geography. To make this a reality, Quynh outlined a specific plan and dedicated a lot of time to these two subjects.

Quỳnh shared that for subjects outside of class time, we must increase self-study time. For History and Geography, in addition to practicing with online and teacher-provided exam questions, students must focus on in-depth study of the key concepts. They should look for question types similar to the Ministry of Education and Training's sample exams to practice solving and improve their test-taking skills.

“In History and Geography, you have to grasp the most basic knowledge. Because in the recent exam, 30 questions were from the textbook. When you have a solid grasp of the basics, you can secure an average score and then move on to studying advanced application topics, which require remembering specific historical timelines. In Geography, we have the advantage of having an atlas, however, we must understand and memorize the symbols in the atlas and be extremely careful because it's very easy to make mistakes. Just a small error can lead to a very regrettable loss of points,” Quynh revealed.

Quynh said that for Literature alone, she reads quite a lot of books, which is a source of knowledge for her to improve her vocabulary and writing skills, so that she knows how to write effectively and incorporate it into her essays. "The reading comprehension and social commentary sections require more skills and real-world connections; as long as I grasp the issue, I can confidently express my ideas. For analyzing poetry or prose, besides understanding the basic knowledge, I need to research and refer to many sources online, in books, and newspapers to develop literary theory to incorporate into my writing. Absolutely do not memorize or cram for the exam; that will not be effective."

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Nhu Quynh's homeroom teacher throughout her three years of high school, said he was very happy that his female student achieved the second highest score in Nghe An province. In class, Quynh is an excellent student, performing well in all subjects, and achieving good results on all school and class tests. Not only that, she is also an active and enthusiastic student in school and class activities. Her achievement is a priceless gift to the teachers and to herself.”

Quynh's class, 12A1, is a close-knit group with many achievements in academics and extracurricular activities. In this year's high school graduation exam, 16 students in the class achieved a total score of 25 points or more in the three subjects. Quynh is happy and proud to have contributed to the class's success.

With such excellent exam results, Quynh has many opportunities to attend universities nationwide, but she chose to apply to Hanoi University of Education, majoring in Literature Education. Quynh said she will continue to strive hard to fulfill her dream of becoming a dedicated teacher, someone who will "ignite" a love for Literature in her students in the future.
