Female doctor with broken leg still participates in 5-hour surgery
Although her orthopedic surgery colleagues told her to rest, the female doctor still examined and operated on patients every day.
With one leg in a cast, Dr. Song Xiaojie, head of the obstetrics and gynecology department at the Wuhan Women's and Children's Health Center in Hubei Province, still performed a critical surgery on a cancer patient. Dr. Song broke the middle toe of her right foot on April 4 after accidentally kicking it into a metal frame in her office. Her colleagues put a cast on her and advised her to rest, but she refused because she had surgery scheduled for the next day on a cervical cancer patient.
