Through a prior agreement, the drug dealer told Ngoc to go to the Nghe An Pedagogical College area and call so that someone would come and deliver the goods. When they arrived at the meeting point, Ngoc called the dealer and was given Truong Thi Oanh's phone number to contact.
After receiving the goods, Ngoc took the drugs to a hotel in Vinh City to sell to a man who asked to buy them. The police discovered and arrested her, confiscating 105 pink pills. Based on Ngoc's statement, Vinh City Police issued an emergency detention order and searched Truong Thi Oanh's residence, seizing 91.645 grams of crystal meth.
The court of first instance sentenced Truong Thi Oanh to 17 years in prison and Nguyen Dang Ngoc to 9 years in prison for illegal drug trafficking.
After that, Truong Thi Oanh filed an appeal to reduce her sentence.
At the appeal court, the defendant presented several new details such as saving a drowning person recognized by the government, helping the police arrest drug criminals, the defendant's biological father being awarded a medal, the defendant's husband having many certificates of merit in local activities...
The defendant also burst into tears and said that during his detention, his second child unfortunately drowned while fishing.
In the end, the appellate court accepted the defendant's appeal, partially amending the first instance judgment sentencing Truong Thi Oanh to 15 years in prison for the crime of illegal drug trafficking.
