Participating in the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest, Dang Gia Han introduced the book "Stories from Sen Village" by researcher Chu Trong Huyen, a good book in the bookshelf aboutUncle Ho. The book gathers short stories surrounding the life of the beloved leader, from his childhood years living with his parents in his hometown of Nghe An, to the ancient capital and his years studying at the National School in Hue, until he boarded a ship at Nha Rong port in 1911.

The stories are told emotionally by witnesses of the time, helping readers have a more objective and clearer perception of Uncle Ho.

Telling the story through video clips, Dang Gia Han begins his journey back to the childhood of the boy Nguyen Sinh Cung from a simple thatched house in Hoang Tru village, Kim Lien commune, Nam Dan district. A poor village but rich in history, culture and learning traditions.

The place where the little boy Nguyen Sinh Cung cried out at birth in the arms of his parents and loved ones. The hammock and loom that mother Hoang Thi Loan wove, rocked the cradle and sang lullabies to little Cung to sleep with the rich folk culture of Nghe An are still here, intact as ever.

Saying goodbye to the beloved Hoang Tru village, after more than a month of walking, Uncle Ho's family arrived in the imperial city of Hue. House number 112 Mai Thuc Loan street, Hue city - is where Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac's family lived from 1895 to 1901.

This is a house in the traditional Hue house architecture; in the small kitchen, there is still a loom, which Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan brought from Nghe An, to weave cloth to support her husband and children's education. The house is also the place that witnessed the peaceful childhood years of the boy Cung in the citadel and the special attachment during his time in Duong No village.

The boy Nguyen Sinh Cung witnessed with his own eyes the constraints and suffocation of the feudal government, the colonial rule and the miserable life of the working people.

“To complete the video clip for the contest, I went to Uncle Ho’s hometown to film the thatched house and artifacts associated with his family and childhood. In particular, I spent 3 days in Hue city to film Uncle Ho’s house and the Hue National School - where Uncle Ho once worked. Those trips left deep impressions on me and helped me gain more experiences,” Dang Gia Han confided.

Thanks to her emotional voice and elaborate investment, Dang Gia Han's entry was highly appreciated by the Jury and won First Prize (Primary School) of the Contest.Ambassador of reading cultureNghe An province in 2024. At the same time, this entry also helped me win the title of National Outstanding Reading Culture Ambassador.

As a reading culture ambassador, I have done many practical things to spread the reading movement in schools and communities. Among them, there is an initiative to propose to the Head of the Youth Union to launch the "Books in Hand" Project, once a month the school organizes a donation of good books, suitable for the age of students. And every 3 months, the school will pack books and send them to schools in mountainous or coastal areas - where there are many poor and disadvantaged students. Each book will be a priceless gift for poor students in mountainous or rural districts."
