Female accountant of the People's Committee of the commune falsely declared and 'embezzled' 300 million VND from the budget
The police agency has executed the decision to prosecute the accused and the arrest warrant to detain Pham Thi Mai for the act of "Violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences".
Previously, the Investigation Police Agency of Lao Cai Province Police handled a case showing signs of "Violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences" occurring at the People's Committee of Nam Luc Commune, Bac Ha District, Lao Cai Province.

Based on the results of the investigation and verification, it has been determined that: Pham Thi Mai, born in 1983, registered residence in Nam Kha 2 village, Nam Luc commune, Bac Ha district, Lao Cai province, is the accountant of the People's Committee of Nam Luc commune, assigned to prepare documents for settlement of funds from the State budget.
For personal gain, Pham Thi Mai made false declarations and created fake invoices and documents to withdraw money from the State budget of Nam Luc Commune People's Committee with an amount of more than 2.6 billion VND, which was spent in violation of the law. In which, Pham Thi Mai benefited from an amount of more than 300 million VND without entering it into the cash fund of the Commune People's Committee as prescribed, to use for personal expenses in violation of the law. Initial determination determined that she caused a loss to the State budget of more than 300 million VND.
On October 11, the Investigation Police Agency of Lao Cai Province issued a Decisionprosecutecriminal case of "Violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences". By October 16, the Decision to prosecute the accused and the Order to arrest the accused for temporary detention; Order to search the residence and workplace of the accused Pham Thi Mai, a Finance and Accounting officer of Nam Luc commune, Bac Ha district, Lao Cai province, to investigate the crime of "Violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences" as prescribed in Point a, Clause 2, Article 221 of the Penal Code, amended and supplemented in 2017.
