The Vietnamese Embassy in Angola has just announced the sad news about Ms. Hoang Thi Van (29 years old, residing in Thien Cam town, Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh) who died due to robbery and murder in Huambo province.
On December 10, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Ky, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thien Cam town, said that according to information reported from Angola, about 10 days ago, while Ms. Van was sleeping at the motel, a group of robbers broke down the door and restrained her. They tied up two other workers, one Vietnamese and one Angolan, because the victims had no money, the robbers doused them in gasoline and set them on fire.
"Some workers heard the cries for help and came to put out the fire and took the victims to the hospital. On December 9, Ms. Van passed away, and the remaining Vietnamese worker is in critical condition," said Mr. Ky.
Ms. Van’s body has not yet been repatriated. According to local authorities, the victim’s family was poor and she had a 5-year-old child living with her grandparents.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Angola has called for everyone's generosity to help bring Ms. Van back to her hometown for burial according to her family's wishes.
Previously in March, Mr. Dang Quoc Nghia (44 years old) and Mr. Nguyen Viet Hau (33 years old, both residing in Ha Tinh) were workers in Angola when a group of armed foreign robbers came to ask for money, but when they were not given money, they were murdered.
