At around 7:40 a.m. on April 3, a gunman ran up and shot Trinh Huynh multiple times in the back as she walked through an intersection in Atlanta’s Midtown district, according to ABC News. She was taken to the hospital but died there from her injuries.
"She was crossing the street, and he pulled out a gun and shot her three times," said Toney Booker, a street sweeper who testified. "She fell to the ground, and he ran away." The intersection was busy with drivers and pedestrians when the shooting occurred.
Police announced on April 4 that Raylon Browning, 39, had been arrested in connection with the murder. Browning was wanted for allegedly stabbing two people a day before Trinh's murder.

Atlanta police Sgt. Ricardo Vazquez said Browning was caught on surveillance video. Investigators have not determined whether Trinh and Browning knew each other, but believe Huynh was targeted and followed by the man.
Ms. Trinh, 40, came to the United States with her parents in 1979. She was a corporate lawyer who worked for UPS. UPS said she died "while on her way to public transportation to work."
Dao Huynh, a sister of Ms Trinh, said the victim was an active member of her family and community. "She always had a joke to share, a smile or a quirky story and she will always be remembered and respected for the way she lived her life, not the tragedy of her death."
